- Despite the update, the remaster still needs more improvements to address bugs and poor optimization.
In a surprise update, Assassin’s Creed 3 Remastered has finally received official achievements support on Steam. This new feature comes almost six years after the launch of the remastered version of Assassin’s Creed 3 on the platform.
For quite some time, Ubisoft has been shipping quality-of-life updates, ranging from adding achievements to bringing better frame rate, to an array of titles in its back catalog. Earlier in February, it rolled out a 60 FPS patch for Far Cry New Dawn on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Further back in November 2024, it gave the same treatment to Assassin’s Creed Syndicate on current-gen consoles. When it comes to the in-game achievements feature, Ubisoft recently added it to its 2013 open-world title Watch Dogs. Continuing this trend, Ubisoft has most recently released a desirable update for Assassin’s Creed 3 Remastered, giving the 2019 remaster a neat addition.

Assassin’s Creed 3 Remastered has received achievements on Steam, at last, as revealed in Ubisoft’s latest announcement. The action-adventure title, which comes bundled with the Tyranny of King Washington expansion as well as the spin-off game Assassin’s Creed Liberation, supports the newly added feature across all these games for Assassin’s Creed completionists. Importantly, the achievements are retrospectively unlockable, meaning that players who completed the required action before the latest patch would automatically unlock the corresponding achievement. What’s more, players who own the original Assassin’s Creed 3 instead of the remaster would also receive this useful feature.
Assassin’s Creed 3 Remastered Surprise Update Lands on Steam But More May Be Needed
Judging by the user reviews on Steam, it appears as though Assassin’s Creed 3 Remastered needs some more updates to improve its standing among fans. Apparently, despite being on Valve’s storefront for a long time, the remaster’s current state is still not reflective of the highly rated original Assassin’s Creed game it holds within. After more than 10,500 reviews, it has an underwhelming “Mixed” rating on the platform, with players reporting a range of issues, including bugs and poor optimization. Although the latest quality-of-life addition may be a welcome change, Ubisoft may want to ship a few more to address other more important areas if it wants to elevate the game’s Steam rating.
Before the latest patch, Assassin’s Creed 3 was in the news after reports of the game’s cut content potentially making its way into Assassin’s Creed Shadows emerged. With each day bringing fans closer to March 20, the launch date for the next chapter in the long-running series, it is only a matter of time before they also draw parallels between Shadows and its other predecessors.
