Actor Yuri Lowenthal has reassured fans of Insomniac’s Spider-Man games that Peter Parker will have a major role to play in the inevitable third game. All of Insomniac’s Spider-Man games have been met with critical acclaim so far, and so fans are understandably excited to find out what the third entry in the action-packed superhero series has in store.
Right now, Insomniac is currently busy developing its Wolverine PS5 game, which is expected to launch at some point in 2026. Company leaks suggest Insomniac could also have a standalone Venom game in the works, but nothing concrete to that effect has been announced at the time of this writing. Spider-Man 2 PC Version Releases Patch 3
In another key update, Spider-Man 2 on PC receives visual and stability issue fixes on the same day as the game gets a certain exciting verification.
The Spider-Man 2 game ending left fans unsure about Peter Parker’s future. At the end of the game, Peter handed off his crime-fighting responsibilities to Miles Morales so he could focus more on his home life and relationship with Mary-Jane Watson. This ending left some fans worried that Peter Parker was permanently retiring as Spider-Man in the Insomniac universe, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Yuri Lowenthal told The Direct that Peter Parker will be in Spider-Man 3. “Peter is not gone,” Lowenthal said. “He will be a part of the next game, and he won’t be relegated to the couch, I promise.” Reading between the lines, this seems to suggest that not only will Peter Parker be in Spider-Man 3, but he will once again be one of the game’s playable characters.
Spider-Man 3 Won’t Relegate Peter Parker to the Couch
Spider-Man 3 has not been officially announced, and so fans know virtually nothing about it in an official capacity. However, it’s assumed that the game will bring back both Peter Parker and Miles Morales while potentially adding a third playable superhero to the mix. The Spider-Man 2 post-credit scene introduced the character Cindy Moon, who is Silk in the comic books. It’s been theorized that Silk will be a playable character in Spider-Man 3, but that remains to be seen.
As previously mentioned, Insomniac is currently focused on its Wolverine game, though the studio has big plans for the future. Besides the Venom game, leaks have suggested that Insomniac may also have plans for X-Men video games as well. Time will tell how many of Insomniac’s leaked projects actually come to fruition, however.
