Black Myth: Wukong has sold around five million copies on the PlayStation 5 alone, marking a significant milestone for the Chinese title on Sony’s flagship console. Released in August 2024, Black Myth: Wukong continues to find a sizable audience half a year after launch, with the game’s PS5 sales particularly impressive.

Huge sales numbers and industry accolades continue to pour in for Game Science’s triple-A release, with Black Myth: Wukong recently surpassing 25 million copies sold globally. 20 million of those copies were sold in the game’s first month of release, and the title still holds the distinction of being the most-played single-player game in Steam history, boasting over 2.2 million concurrent users on its release day. Just over six months later, some new numbers have been announced, with players now able to see how Black Myth: Wukong has performed both internationally and on Sony’s major system.

Impressive sales aren’t the only thing Game Science has been celebrating. Black Myth: Wukong has snagged dozens of awards, winning Game of the Year at the Steam Awards 2024 and the 2024 Golden Joystick Awards, as well as Best Action Game and Players’ Voice at The Game Awards 2024. The title is also nominated for seven accolades at the Game Developers Choice Awards, scheduled to be held on March 19. These include Game of the Year, Best Design, Best Narrative, and Best Visual Art, among others.

The February 2025 update for Black Myth: Wukong fixed a number of issues with the title, including some particularly troublesome PS5-specific bugs and some glitches related to the Gauntlet of Legends mode. The game is expected to get a DLC expansion in 2025, and the long-awaited Xbox port is also slated to be released this year as well. Unfortunately, both are without a release date, with the DLC previously expected to be released sometime around Chinese New Year 2025. As this has proven to be false, only time will tell when players will be able to return to the story of Sun Wukong.
