People choose a sides because it’s fun. When we choose our sides, we apply biases. For instance, my friend can do something I don’t like and it’s tolerable, but if someone I don’t like does it, the person is an idiot. This behavior isn’t good or bad, it’s an instinctual compromise we make to be in a group.
I don’t know what you mean by “nice”. However, it does seem like a cycle, but that would also imply this behavior is generally static, it might be…I would need to think about this.
