What is the evidence for this other than 1 VR developers opinion? PSVR2, AVP, WMR have all stopped production not to mention countless other headset manufacturers have bowed out. Meta sales are flagging and Valve are pretty much nowhere. The remaining players are all interested in the latest shiny thing “AR Glasses”, a far cry from what VR is.
All I hear are excuses from VR enthusiasts, But the reality is the patience and the consumers wallet is now empty with over a decade plus of trying to get VR to catch on. You have been given much longer than any other tech to catch on and it hasn’t happened. I can attest from using VR extensively games are not inherently better in VR actually quite the opposite, they tend to be worse, They are more like Wii+ games, often shallow and janky controls that if anything takes the immersion out of the game. Sure you can get odd fun horror game but you don’t even need to play a horror game to get jump scares.
The non game part of this isn’t much better, I haven’t seen any productivity app which makes the process of data input or graphic design faster, it just makes things slower. So it isn’t even a more productive way of doing computing like Apple tried to sell it as. For this to ever catch on it has to be benefits all around when you put on a headset on and it isn’t. For most people wearing a headset is a negative to begin with so it ends up being a psychological uphill battle from the get go, especially if it is for work.
