Why You Should Pull For Tribbie
Tribbie is a 5-star Quantum Harmony unit that can buff allies and thereby significantly enhance the damage output of the team. Based on what was shown in the livestream, Tribbie uses a rocket to damage enemies and create a field. While this field is active, enemies will receive increased damage from allies.
In addition to that, Tribbie can also buff allies, though the exact nature of the buff wasn’t mentioned. However, it was said that Tribbie could deal more damage to the enemy who has the highest remaining HP. This will depend on the total number of enemies on the field as the more there are, the more damage she will deal.
As you know, while Tribbie is the main character, she also has her partners, Trianne and Trinnon. However, the playable version you get is Tribbie and her partners will occasionally feature in her ultimate ability.
Finally, Tribbie also launches a follow-up attack whenever someone in the team uses an Ultimate ability. This is something that can create several team-building opportunities, since several units in the game synergize well with follow-up attacks.
The Tribbie Difference
What makes Tribbie an exceptional unit is her ability to deal damage while also being a Harmony unit. Every other Harmony unit such as Ruan Mei, Sunday, and Robin are exceptionally strong, but the only thing they offer are powerful buffs that make others strong. Tribbie can not only buff her allies, but she also deals follow-up damage while also dealing bonus damage to enemies who have the most health.
This will make clearing content a lot quicker, and you will have a lot of flexibility in how you build your team. For instance, if Tribbie can deal good damage, you can run two Harmony units instead of one and finish off the party with a healer. Apart from that, the fact that enemies take more damage when her field is active means the sole DPS on your team will crush through all forms of content with ease, including the extremely difficult Memory of Chaos.
Since Tribbie can launch follow-up attacks whenever someone in the team uses their ultimate ability, she will pair up quite well with the likes of Lingsha, Feixiao, The Herta, and Aglaea. In fact, any team that can use their ultimate abilities in quick succession will synergize well with Tribbie.
If you go for Tribbie, you’ll have to build her in a way where she has all the necessary stats required for a Harmony unit and a DPS character. Building her optimally will take a while, but she will be worth the investment.
Why You Should Pull For Mydei
Mydei is an Imaginary Destruction unit who uses his HP as a resource to boost his personal damage. You can think of him like Blade, but a lot stronger in terms of scaling and damage output. Based on what was shown in the livestream, Mydei will boast massive HP when on the battlefield. He will consume his HP and deal massive damage to enemies.
However, whenever he loses HP, either from his own skill or whenever he receives damage from an enemy, he gains stacks up to a certain threshold. Once he hits the threshold, he gets empowered and deals huge damage to all enemies. Finally, when Mydei uses his ultimate, he heals himself while also restoring stacks.
When in the enhanced state, Mydei has his DEF reduced and HP massively increased. The more HP he loses, the stronger his abilities become. It was also shown in the livestream that when Mydei gets knocked down, he revives himself. It is unclear how that works, but it seems like he has a self-revival mechanic in his kit, which will add an extra layer to his sustainability.
The Mydei Difference
Mydei being an HP scaling unit will firstly bring a breath of fresh air to the game that is heavily populated with ATK scaling units. Back during season 1 of the game, several top Destruction units were released such as Blade, Jingliu, and Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae. However, all of them got power-creeped when the meta changed towards Break Effect, and units like Firefly and Acheron were released.
Additionally, the release of follow-up units like Feixiao, who had massive single-target damage potential, completely shut the doors on Destruction DPS units. Mydei is looking to bring back the Destruction meta once again. He will switch up how the end-game is played since Break has been significantly nerfed and Firefly has lost a lot of her power.
Apart from that, even though Mydei loses HP, he isn’t squishy as he can heal himself, which means he is quite self-sufficient. You can pretty much create a team with any healer and Mydei will single-handedly carry you through the hardest content in the game.
However, this also means you’ll have to spend a lot of resources to build Mydei. This is because he will need a lot of HP from his Relics and Ornaments with an equal focus on Crit Rate and Crit DMG. If you have Sunday, he will work brilliantly with Mydei or any Harmony unit such as Bronya or Robin who can boost his damage output.
Pull For The Character You Like
Both Tribbie and Mydei are going to be exceptional units who will have a massive impact on the meta. However, one of them is a Harmony unit who will also function as a hybrid DPS, and the other one is a Destruction unit who will function as a full-scale DPS. In such a situation, it comes down to whom you like more and what your account requires right now.
If you don’t have the likes of Sunday or Robin, Tribbie will be a better choice, and if you don’t have Acheron or Feixiao, Mydei will be perfect for you. However, at the very end, it is also important to remember that meta is something that keeps changing, and the best characters now will become powerless in the future.
Honkai: Star Rail is known to be quite aggressive with power-creeping characters and it’s one of the biggest criticisms of the game as well. In such a situation, it’s always important to pull for what you like since it’s extremely tedious to run after the meta when you’re playing a free-to-play game. Honkai: Star Rail doesn’t give enough Stellar Jades where you can pull for two new characters every patch, and pursuing meta in such a state will lead to frustration.
However, if you are pulling for the character you like, not only will you save resources, but the meta won’t matter to you anymore since you will be enjoying whatever you have in your account.
