Summary
- Overwatch 2 fans have found a new Hero Perk that could probably do with a bit of tweaking, as Bastion has become practically immortal.
- One of Bastion’s perks, Self-Repair, allows the character to heal himself infinitely, unrestricted by a resource meter.
- This means characters with low damage output like D.Va and Tracer are unable to kill Bastion.
Overwatch 2’s new perk system has undoubtedly shaken things up for the better, giving the game a new lease on life and saving it from the slow death it was facing following the success of Marvel Rivals. Blizzard has fully acknowledged that Hero Perks could end up being problematic in the initial stages, with some of them potentially a little too overpowered, especially with all 41 heroes getting them.
However, Overwatch 2 players may have already spotted one of the Hero Perks that needs addressing sooner rather than later. With the addition of Hero Perks, everyone’s favorite walking gatling gun, Bastion, has had his Self-Repair ability form the original Overwatch returned to him, which allows him to put away his weapon and heal himself on the spot.
Overwatch 2 Fans Are Struggling To Beat Bastion’s Self-Repair
The bad news for everyone else is that this Self-Repair perk appears to have made Bastion borderline immortal. Overwatch originally balanced Bastion’s Self-Repair by attaching a resource meter to the ability, stopping Bastion from healing himself if it had run out. Overwatch 2 has done away with the resource meter though, letting Bastion heal himself as much as he wants with no limits.
As you can already imagine, that kind of healing power is causing havoc in actual matches, as Bastion appears to be unkillable if you’re playing as certain characters. A Twitter user called Shroomiiee demonstrated the power of this ability in a recent video (which can be seen embedded above), as Bastion manages to escape from the middle of a fight by constantly self-healing while running away.
Another video by a Reddit user called Holi- made the issue even clearer, as Bastion is able to stand completely still and spam Self-Repair, all the while a D.Va is peppering him with bullets. If you’re up against a Bastion with a character that doesn’t have particularly high burst damage, like Tracer, Moira, D.Va, Winston, and many more, Bastion is essentially unkillable.
Of course, a perk that makes half of the current roster completely useless against you probably isn’t great for Overwatch 2’s balance, and we can probably expect Bastion’s Self-Repair to either take a hit to its healing, or have a resource meter added back in the near future. As a D.Va main myself, I sure hope so anyway.
