Once Human: Most Dangerous Enemies, Ranked
Asside from bosses and mini-bosses, Once Human has many dangerous standard enemies.
Many of the food recipes in this survival shooter game call for some form of animal meat. Additionally, many of the blueprints for armor and clothing ask for rawhide. Both of these resources are obtained by hunting animals, killing them, and then skinning them. This can be a frustrating, time-consuming activity unless the player knows the best areas to hunt animals in Once Human.
Updated February 24, 2025, by Usama Ali: In Once Human, animals spawn in different regions of the game world. Certain areas are more populated with certain types of animals, which makes them easier to track down and hunt. A recent update added a new animal ranching feature, which enables Metas to capture, tame, and breed animals. From deer, sheep, and rabbits, to crocodiles, wolves, and wild boars, players are able to hunt animals and bring them back to their territory. These creatures mainly serve two purposes: safeguarding territory and providing valuable resources like meat, rawhide, and eggs. While ranching provides a sustainable, long-term approach to resource gathering, it doesn’t replace the need for skilled hunting. As such, knowing the best hunting locations for different animals in Once Human is still important.

Broken Delta Beach
Early Game Deer Hunting
There are two resources that new players to Once Human need which can only be obtained by hunting and skinning animals. Firstly, rawhide, which the crafting system asks for as part of the recipe for most armor. Secondly, animal meat, is for cooking food.

Once Human: 7 Best Places To Get Materials
Finding the most efficient places to harvest rare and frequently-used materials is critical in Once Human.
Broken Delta Beach is on the island to the southeast of the starting zone. Many deer spawn on this beach or just a little ways inland. However, be careful, as a PvP zone that can be claimed by warbands begins just a short way from the beach. This is a great location to farm both rawhide and meat for new players.

Dayton Wetlands
Deer Farming While Running Missions
Once a new player has crafted their first set of armor, they will likely want to upgrade it using the calibration system. This means a need for even more rawhide. Unfortunately, some players don’t enjoy hunting down animals and killing them for extended periods, just to get resources.
The area of Dayton Wetlands is the location of a number of quests and missions in Once Human, and it is also widely populated with deer and rabbits. For the aforementioned players who don’t want to grind rawhide, simply killing every animal they come across while questing in the Dayton Westlands and skinning them should provide enough rawhide and plenty of animal meat.

Broken Delta
Find Tameable Crocodiles
While crocodiles roam all throughout Nalcott, only a few select locations offer guaranteed spawns. The best hunting grounds for crocodiles can be found in the flooded settlement of Harborside, located southeast of Meyer’s Market in the Broken Delta region. The submerged homes, shops, and roads of this area make it clear why this area is an ideal home for these reptiles.
Players can find a bunch of crocodiles patrolling the flooded streets and alleyways and can easily hunt them down. These crocodiles, typically around Level 12, are relatively safe for even low-level players to capture. To tame them, look for the white line on their HP bar, indicating the threshold for capture. Reduce the crocodile’s health below this line, then use a tranquilizer dart to knock it unconscious. Once sedated, approach the sleeping creature and add it to your inventory. Keep in mind that crocodiles are surprisingly stealthy and swift, so hunters should still be careful in the flooded streets.
Build an enclosure in the territory and feed the crocodile fish or large animal meat, and water. Over time, it will become tamed. Tamed crocodiles in Once Human can help defend the territory and provide a steady supply of Crocodile Eggs. Plus, Crocodile Hides are tough and can be used to craft high-quality armor.

Iron River
Boar And Deer Everywhere
Iron River is the area between Meyer’s Market and Tall Grass Inn on the Once Human map. This is an area where players who are around level 15 often set up a temporary base. It gives access to tin and Iron Ore
and is close to two quest hubs.
Another advantage of making a temporary home in the Iron River region is the prevalence of wild boar and deer that spawn in the area. So much so, they can become intrusive if a player sets up a base too close to an aggressive wild boar spawn point.
4
Chalk Peak Plains
Boar, Deer, And Rabbits In Abundance
Moving on to the mid-level map regions, the player will come across Chalk Peak, the zone where the settlement of Tall Grass Inn is located. Within this region are a number of large, flat areas. These are fantastic locations to mine aluminum and iron. However, they are also home to many huntable critters.

Once Human: 7 Best Places To Farm Loot
All players in Once Human have to farm loot now and then, to keep up with crafting requirements and gear progression.
Deer, boar, and rabbits spawn everywhere on these flat plains. However, players need to take care, as there can also be the odd bear or alligator lurking about, which can be dangerous for players who are around level 20 without decent gear.
3
Red Sands
Goats And Wolves
The Red Sands region is the first region that Once Human players will gain access to that contains Tungsten Ore
, but it is also a great source of rawhide and meat. This is mainly due to the fact that the region is populated by a great many goats.
However, players need to be aware that there are roaming packs of wolves in this region as well, and they are quite common. These packs will stalk the player at range, before closing in for an attack. It is easy to miss the fact that wolves are nearby, and they can quickly take down a player who has low health already.
2
Blackheart Mountains
Easy To Farm Goats
As already mentioned, there are plenty of goats in the Red Sands region. However, Red Sands has very rocky, mountainous terrain, which can make hunting down and skinning goats somewhat annoying at times. The Blackheart Mountains are an easier place to farm goats.

Once Human: Best Base Locations
Bases in Once Human are a requirement to do well in the game, and choosing the right location can be critical.
There are large, sandy, open spaces around the Blackheart Mountains, just teeming with herds of goats. The same warning is in place though, relating to wolf packs in this area, so take care.
1
Hidden Cave
So Many Bears
Up in the northern part of the Chalk Peak zone of the open-world map is a mountain range. Hidden within this mountain range is a hidden cave. The cave has a weapon crate, a hidden morphic crate, and several supply crates. However, it is also populated by many bears, which respawn extremely quickly.
Be aware though, that these are high-level bears, and they are bullet sponges, so players intending to hunt in this hidden cave should bring plenty of ammo. The cave system can be quite hard to locate the first time around. It is also quite extensive, with tunnels that go right through the mountains to several exits far from the entrance, making it very easy to get lost.
