He isn’t too hard to play, but it will take a few runs before you can become comfortable using him in ranked matches. If you’re a fan of Human Torch and looking to main him in the coming days, here’s a detailed guide that will make the task a lot easier.

Human Torch Overview

Human Torch ability screen in Marvel Rivals.

Human Torch is a medium-difficulty Duelist who is all about dealing damage and area control. He has explosive moves that can cause massive damage, but his primary value comes from the ability to lockdown areas where enemies will be scared to enter because of the fear of dying to overtime fire damage.

While Human Torch’s abilities aren’t hard to understand, placing them on the field so that enemies get hit by them is where you need to be smart. If you just expend his abilities carelessly, you won’t be able to get good damage out of this hero. You must remember the damage over time from Pyro-Prison and Flame Fields are quite high. So using those strategically will be crucial for success with this hero.

Apart from that, being a flying hero means you are vulnerable to sustained DPS from units like Hela, Punisher, and Winter Soldier. So you’ll have to play smart to stay alive while also making the most out of your kit.

Here’s a detailed rundown of his entire kit:

Normal Attack

Fire Cluster

Throw out splitting fireballs at enemies

Abilities

Supernova

Activating the Supernova state deals damage to all enemies in the vicinity.

Additionally, his Blazing Blast ability now spawns Fire Tornados and Plasma Body can be used without any cost.

Plasma Body

Use Plasma Body to accelerate in any direction. This move consumes stamina.

Pyro-Prison

Create a firewall that can deal one instance of very high damage to those who pass through it.

Apart from that, if the wall is enclosed, anybody inside it will take massive fire damage.

Flaming Meteor

Crash on the ground like a meteor and deal high damage.

Blazing Blast

Throw a fireball at enemies and deal damage.

It also creates a Flame Field that deals damage to anybody caught inside.

Team-Up Abilities

Omega Fire

Storm and Human Torch can match each other by creating a fire Tornado by combining their Ultimate abilities. This, in turn, grows in size and deals higher damage.

United Siblings

Human Torch is buffed by Invisible Woman in a way where the former receives bonus health and damage reduction.

Tips And Tricks When Playing As Human Torch

Flame Fields from Human Torch in Marvel Rivals.

Human Torch is all about managing his Flame Field so that he can deal damage while also retaining the ability to control areas around the map. The way this works is when using the Blazing Blast ability: a Flame Field is created, which burns enemies over time within a very small area. Human Torch also has access to three instances of Blazing Blast, which also recharge very quickly.

The way this ability works is that first, you throw three Blazing Blast balls toward enemies, which will create Flame Fields on the ground. Once there are three Flame Fields, you can immediately activate the Pyro-Prison ability so that an enclosed cage is created, which will rapidly damage enemies who stand inside. However, you must remember that the Pyro-Prison ability has a 14-second cooldown, and if you use it early, then it will create a mismatch with your Blazing Blast counters.

The Pyro-Prison ability has a pretty good radius, which means it’s better if you spread apart the Flame Fields instead of dropping them next to each other. This will help create a bigger cage with Pyro-Prison, which will cover a larger area. Additionally, if you drop two Flame Fields and connect the Pyro-Prison, and then drop a third Flame Field, the first two won’t connect to the third one. So if you want a cage, you will have to first drop the three Flame Fields and then connect them.

The way you want to use the Pyro Prison and Blazing Blast combo will depend on the situation. If you are playing a Payload progress match, it’s better to use two Flame Fields, which create a flame wall and deal a heavy instance of fire damage to all enemies who pass through it. However, if you are playing zone capture, it is better to use three Flame Fields and connect them with the Pyro-Prison in the form of a cage so that players trying to capture the area take a lot of damage.

The Flaming Meteor ability is quite good as it not only deals a lot of damage but also pushes enemies away from grouping up. This comes in extremely handy when enemies try to heal under Loki’s crystals or get close to Luna Snow for healing. It has a pretty good radius and can come in handy when low HP enemies try to save themselves with emergency heals.

While the Flaming Meteor is amazing, it also leaves you vulnerable when it lands. As such, you shouldn’t jump in with it in between multiple enemies without any support.

Finally, Plasma Body can be used to either reposition yourself or run away from critical situations. You must remember that the ability drains your stamina very fast, so don’t use it carelessly, as otherwise, you will be left vulnerable and become an easy target for enemies.

How To Use Human Torch Ultimate

Human Torch using his Ultimate in Marvel Rivals.

Human Torch’s Ultimate ability empowers your Blazing Blast ability and helps spawn Tornados instead of just Flame Fields. These Tornados deal massive damage and must be placed in a way where enemies are likely to get hit. You can place it around choke points or in front of them so that they get pushed away from objectives, irrespective of whether it’s a Payload or zone capture.

While Supernova is active, the Pyro-Prison ability cannot be used since the Flame Tornados do not trigger that skill. You can only use it once the Ultimate has expired and Blazing Blast returns to its normal state and creates Flame Fields.

Additionally, if you play Human Torch, you can ask your team to pick Storm, as both of you can mix your Ultimate abilities to create a Flame Tornado. Since Storm is also top-tier in the meta, joining hands with Human Torch will make winning games a lot easier.

It’s also important to remember that, apart from creating the Tornados, the initial blast of Supernova deals a lot of damage. As such, it’s important to use it when enemies are close by instead of activating it in the air. You would want to make the most out of the blast damage from the initial explosion.
