You can encounter The Yargonaut on your way to Olympus. It’s actually quite hard to run into The Yargonaut since his encounter rate is low. But if you do, this Yargonaut guide will help you stay ahead. You’ll learn about his location, abilities, attack pattern, and also some handy tips and strategies to take him down.

Hades 2 is in Early Access. The information in this guide may change over time.

The Yargonaut Location

Information about The Yargonaut in Hades 2 bestiary.

You’ll find The Yargonaut in the Rift of Thessaly, among Chronos’s ghostly fleet where undead sailors roam. If you cross the boss’s door and see a swarm of Sea-Shamblers, plus a captain wielding a fishbone blade in one hand and a gun in the other, you’ve found him.

Other than The Yargonaut, you may also encounter another miniboss in the Rift of Thessaly: Charybdis.

All Yargonaut’s Abilities

The Yargonaut can be a real pain with his bouncing attacks and teleporting tricks. He has four main abilities: Two melee, one long-range, and a blink.

The Yargonaut’s attacks deal massive damage and can terribly cut down your HP. So, focus on learning his attack patterns and staying alive before anything else. Here’s a closer look at each ability and how to counter them:

Ability

Description

How To Counter

Double Barrage

The Yargonaut raises his gun and fires two rounds of missiles. Four red circles will appear on the floor, marking where they’ll land.

The missiles hit in pairs, so you’ll see two explosions at a time.

Stay out of the red circles to avoid taking damage.

Bouncing Shot

Fires three pink projectiles that ricochet off the ship’s walls.

They bounce once, so watch their trajectory and time your dashes carefully.

Cleave Attack

The Yargonaut swings his fishbone blade for a melee attack.

Stay out of its range, dodge to the side, or get behind him to avoid getting hit.

Blink

Teleports and reappears in another spot.

Stay alert, control your attacks, and be ready to react to his new location.

Spamming attacks can make it harder to redirect your strikes or respond to his next move in time.

How To Defeat The Yargonaut

As soon as you enter the room, The Yargonaut will fire a round of missiles. Avoid the red circles. Right after that, he’ll launch three bouncing projectiles twice. He may blink or shoot more missiles. Don’t attack him now. Focus on dodging his abilities.

Your priority should be clearing out the Sea-Shamblers first. If you leave them roaming, the fight will be much harder. Unlike the jellyfish in the Hellifish fight, these enemies don’t just spin and stay in one place. They move around and actively attack you. Plus, with them cluttering the screen, spotting where The Yargonaut blinks will be even trickier.

Use your Cast as frequently as possible. It can trap the Sea-Shamblers, deal extra damage, and give you more room to maneuver.

The best Moon Boon is always Lunar Ray since it helps clear enemies faster and is especially useful when facing bosses one-on-one, including The Yargonaut. If you rely on magick, Dark Side and Total Eclipse are also great choices since you can trigger them often.

Phase Shift is another solid option, as it slows everything down, giving you more time to react.

Once the Sea-Shamblers are gone, it’s time to take on The Yargonaut one-on-one. But don’t let your guard down just yet. He’s tanky, and his teleporting can catch you off guard. Stay sharp, track his movements, and shred his armor. Once that’s gone, it won’t be long before he falls under your might.
