Hello Kitty Island Adventure: How To Unlock City Town

Here, you can learn how to complete the quests necessary to access City Town for the first time in Hello Kitty Island Adventure.

In this guide, we’ll take a look at how to meet and befriend Big Challenges in Hello Kitty Island Adventure. Unlocking him takes a bit of work, so we’ll go over all the requirements that you need to complete beforehand. Thankfully, Big Challenges unlocks at the exact same time that Tophat does.

Where To Find Big Challenges

In order to unlock Big Challenges, you’ll need to complete A Challenging Rescue. This quest has a lot of requirements that you need to complete first, which we’ve listed below. Overall, this is a big chunk of the story, but as you complete the quests, more features and side quests will unlock as well.

Once you finish this list of quests, you can move on to start A Challenging Rescue. To start it, speak with Tophat, who is found in the upper right-hand corner of Gemstone Mountain, near the Icy Peak entrance (there is a fast-travel mailbox here).

After A Challenging Rescue has been completed, both Tophat and Big Challenges will be standing at the beach in the Seaside Resort. From here, you can freely interact with Big Challenges and give him gifts.

Gifts To Give Big Challenges

After Big Challenges joins the characters, you can give him gifts to level up your friendship. Overall, Big Challenges likes gifts with the Volcanic, Resilience, and Book tags. These look like a volcano, a shield, and a book, making them rather straightforward.

If a gift has at least one of these tags, then he’ll accept it as a one-heart gift. There are also a few two and three-heart gifts that you can give him, which we’ve listed below.

In return for giving him a gift, Big Challenges will give you Little Challenges. This is a coin-like item used to craft books and his birthday balloons.

Overall, some great gifts that you can give Big Challenges are critters and fish found around Mount Hothead. These creatures will have the Volcanic tag, making them a good one-heart gift.

Another great option that provides a bit more friendship is Meditations on Resilience. This book requires just one Blank Book and one Little Challenge to make. It’s pretty cheap in terms of material requirement, so we suggest giving Big Challenges this.

Friendship Rewards

The main type of reward you’ll receive from Big Challenges is furniture. If you’ve ever wanted a Big Challenges-themed cabin, now is the time!

There are 20 levels of friendship that you can progress through with Big Challenges. Interestingly, this is double the number of friendship levels as Tophat, who is his best friend. Below, you can check out every friendship level and its associated reward.

Quests From Big Challenges

There is only one initial quest that you’ll unlock through leveling up your friendship with Big Challenges, but it’s actually a quest line with three parts. The subsequent steps in the quest don’t have any extra requirements though; you just need to wait a day.

Description

Friendship Never Fades

You need to complete the quest Purple Rain (and wait at least one day), as well as the Mystery Tree quest series in order to start this.

This quest line is fairly long, but overall, you’ll need to visit with characters around the map, investigate the Fading, travel to the Heart of the Island, and ultimately meet the Island Spirit.

Daily Quests

Lastly, we have daily quests associated with Big Challenges. As with all daily quests, only a handful will appear each day, so there is no guarantee that you will see any of these. You can find each possible daily quest below.
