- Even in its beta test phase, Crystal of Atlan delivers an engaging and highly replayable experience.
- The visuals are stunning, and the game runs smoothly on low-end devices, though this comes at the expense of some visual detail.
- It provides an excellent social experience through its diverse game modes, allowing you to make friends, team up, and have fun together.
I had the chance to play Nuverse‘s latest action MMORPG title, Crystal of Atlan during the Closed Beta test, called PRECURSOR TEST, and my first impression is that the game shows great potential. It previously held a closed beta test on Android devices in select regions in December 2023, and I was fortunate to participate in this second round of testing.
Originally announced in G-STAR 2023 alongside several other mobile games, Crystal of Atlan is generating good buzz thanks to its impressive visuals, captivating storyline and characters, and exciting MMORPG gameplay. Here are my thoughts on my first experience with the game.
Crystal of Atlan holds the potential to be a big name in the gaming market
I expected the game to be impressive, but I didn’t anticipate it would be this amazing. Right from the moment you choose a character from one of the four classes and dive into the first chapter, Witch of Decay, the game instantly draws you in, making you lose track of time.
I genuinely believe this game has great potential, as long as the devs maintain its quality and don’t mess anything up when it officially launches.

During the beta test, I got to experience the game’s immersive storyline through the main chapters, its exciting combat style, attack animations, skills, and more. In some ways, I found it even better than games like Genshin Impact because you can unlock more skills for each character and configure them to your liking.
Although the Puppeteer class is unique, I decided to go with the Musketeer because of its cool attacks and animations. Later on, I switched to Bounty Hunter, after reaching level 15.
I had a fun time playing as a Bounty Hunter, completing various quests, meeting other players, and taking on side quests. Moreover, you earn valuable rewards by completing the sub-missions for the main Chapters.
I also loved that despite the game’s stunning visuals and graphics, it ran smoothly on my low-end phone. So we can expect even better optimization when it officially launches. Additionally, you can play the game from three camera perspectives, including a 3D RPG, 3D ACT, and 2.5D camera, and I went with the ACT one.
Overall, I enjoyed the game’s impressive world-building, anime-style characters, cute pets, world exploration, cooking, sleeping in my house, the Gramophone’s soundtracks, character customization, immersive storyline with cutscenes, and fast-paced action combat. It’s very fun to utilize all the skills, dodge powerful attacks, and pull off combos against the enemies.
The variety of game modes offers an engaging gameplay experience
The game offers a diverse gameplay experience with its range of game modes, including Adventure, Co-op Battle, Event, Ranked Match, and Challenge as of now. The adventure features the main Chapters and side quests that are very enjoyable and highly replayable.

I was lucky enough to team up with two real players for the Challenge mode, where you basically clear waves of enemies across different areas. It was a blast working together as a team, combining skills, and cooperating. Playing on the European server, I even made a few German friends using my half-baked Deutsch skills; Danke Duolingo!
Unfortunately, we couldn’t find a match in Ranked after waiting in the queue for quite some time. This is understandable since it was a beta test, and not everyone was grinding straight away.
Still, the social experience in this game is great, as you can encounter real players throughout the vast world, chat with them, and team up to clear dungeons, for Ranked, Challenge, or Co-op battles.
Honestly, I am really looking forward to the full release of this game as I want to dive into Ranked matches and experience the competition there.
Final Thoughts
In conclusion, my first impression of Crystal of Atlan is very positive. Built with Unreal Engine 4, the game delivers impressive visuals and characters, an immersive storyline and missions, challenging dungeons, and an enjoyable combat system with a variety of skills.
Even in this beta test, the game looks this good, and I am excited to explore more of what it brings to the table when it officially launches. I hope they optimize the game more for low-end devices.
