From Limbo, Magik has entered Marvel Rivals as an outstanding Duelist hero who prefers to fight up close with her foes. Hashing out tremendous damage instantly and having the mobility to run away from danger quickly, Magik has become a huge thorn in the side of team compositions all around.

Because of her unique kit, Magik is a difficult character to counter, especially when playing in high-ranking lobbies. When she’s partnered up with certain characters, like Psylocke, Magik becomes even more of a threat. But, that doesn’t mean that the X-Men hero is completely untouchable, as specific characters can make Magik’s attempts at battle less groundbreaking.

Spider-Man

Can Track Through Portals

Spider-Man is regarded as the most difficult Duelist to learn in Marvel Rivals, but pays off very well when mastered. Though Spider-Man is a ‘diving’ character, he can run to the back line to aid any of his Strategists from a Magik.

Magik has a hard time fighting against Spider-Man due to his mobility. Since Magik is primarily a close-range fighter, there are few opportunities for her to take out Spider-Man. Spider-Man can also use his web trackers to track Magik through her Limbo portal using his “Get Over Here!” ability.

Invisible Woman

Can Deal Damage While Healing

Invisible Woman is one of the best Strategists in Marvel Rivals to play when there is an enemy that continues to dive the back line. That’s because she can throw down her Psionic Vortex on herself to deal damage to anyone attempting to take her out.

Invisible Woman can also utilize Force Physics to push an enemy away from her, or even pull them in for her team to obtain an easy KO. Magik has a hard time getting to Invisible Woman with these abilities in hand, especially when Invisible Woman uses her ultimate ability to continuously heal herself and her team.

Mister Fantastic

Generates Shield And Absorbs Damage

Characters that generate shields or can heal themselves are generally better at taking out Magik than others. Mister Fantastic is among the best of these heroes, as not only can he generate a large amount of shield, but he can also activate his inflated state to have even more shield and deal grand amounts of damage.

Against Mister Fantastic, Magik finds it hard to land a KO due to how much damage Mister Fantastic can absorb. Before she could eliminate him, Magik would have had all of her abilities on cooldown.

Peni Parker

The Antidive Vanguard

Peni Parker is the ultimate antidive hero in Marvel Rivals due to her incredible kit. As a Vanguard, Peni Parker can defend an objective with ease while protecting her backline with her spider mines and Bionic Spider Nest.

With her Strategist teammates standing in the back of her Spider Nest, Magik will continuously have to deal with exploding mines and mites. Combined with Peni’s web snare, she’s a nightmare to go up against as Magik, as Peni’s web snare can stall Magik’s ultimate and help her teammates to take Magik down very quickly.

Winter Soldier

One Of The Best Duelists

The Winter Soldier is one of the best Duelists in Marvel Rivals and is good against almost any character in the game when played right. While playing in various positions, Winter Soldier swaps targets constantly, meaning that back-line divers aren’t even safe from the hero.

When Magik starts to attack Strategists or other heroes, the Winter Soldier can use his Bionic Hook ability to pull her in and deal damage while generating a shield for himself. With his combined abilities, Magik is swiftly eliminated.

Namor

The Antidive Duelist

Namor is commonly used to deal with enemy divers, such as Spider-Man. Magik is also one of these divers, as when she attempts to eliminate any of her foes behind a team, Namor and his squid-like turrets ensure that Magik is unable to do so.

Magik may try to counter by going after Namor first, but that tends to go in Namor’s favor. He can use his Blessing of the Deep ability to generate an impenetrable bubble around himself, get healed from his allies, and then come back into the fight to deal with Magik.

Mantis

The Antidive Strategist

The best Strategist to use against diving characters is Mantis, as she can put any hero to sleep using her Spore Slumber ability. Mantis is also known for putting out a good amount of damage for a support hero, helping her allies with overall damage output.

After Magik portals in on Mantis and her back-line teammates, Mantis can throw a spore to put Magik to sleep, leaving her vulnerable to any damage, especially critical hits. She can also boost her teammates’ damage and even her own damage to KO Magik much faster.

The Punisher

An Arsenal That Counters Many

Frank Castle, The Punisher, has different weapons to use in combat depending on his situation. From afar, he uses his rifle to mow down enemies. In close vicinity, he uses his shotgun to melt health bars. In groups, his turret can take out an entire team. Magik can’t do much against ranged characters, especially when facing an arsenal such as The Punisher’s.

His shotgun alone prevents Magik from getting near him without being eliminated in 2 to 3 shots. When trying to dive, the Punisher’s turret and rifle are a prominent feat against Magik as well.
