Three new day-one games have been announced for Xbox Game Pass in April 2025: Descenders Next, Blue Prince, and Tempopo. These indie games will likely make April an even more exciting month for Xbox Game Pass subscribers, together with previously announced titles such as Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
So far, 2025 has been an excellent year for Xbox Game Pass subscribers, with day-one titles such as Avowed, Sniper Elite: Resistance, Eternal Strands, and others being added to the popular subscription service. During the Xbox Developer Direct in January, Microsoft confirmed the release dates of two major games in April 2025: the French RPG Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and the eagerly awaited action-adventure title South of Midnight. More recently, Microsoft also confirmed Commandos: Origins as another release for the month.

Now, Microsoft revealed during the new ID@Xbox Showcase that three more games will be coming to Xbox Game Pass as day-one releases during April. Descenders Next will be available on April 9, with Blue Prince appearing on the service on April 10 and Tempopo on April 17. Developed by RageSquid, Descenders Next is a radical extreme sports game, including snowboarding, downhill skating, and more. Blue Prince is a unique puzzle game focused on unveiling the mysteries of a constantly changing mansion. Tempopo, on the other hand, is a music-focused puzzle game in which players conduct cute creatures to rescue musical flowers. As expected, these games will only be available on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, not on Xbox Game Pass Standard, which does not normally include day one releases.

One of the most exciting surprises to come from the new ID@Xbox Showcase was the shadow drop of Balatro on Xbox Game Pass. The poker-inspired deckbuilding game has sold millions of copies and earned rave reviews since its release in early 2024, becoming one of the biggest hits of the year. The indie title was even nominated as Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2024, losing to Astro Bot.
Apart from these titles that will be available in April, a few other exciting indie games were also confirmed for Xbox Game Pass during the ID@Xbox Showcase. The list includes 33 Immortals coming out on March 18, Revenge of the Savage Planet on May 8, and four titles without official release dates: Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault, Tanuki Pon’s Summer, Buckshot Roulette, and Echo Weaver. While some of these titles, such as Buckshot Roulette, are already available for PC on Steam, others such as Moonlighter 2 will have simultaneous releases on PC and Xbox.
