Sayonara Wild Hearts has been shadow-dropped on PlayStation 5 following the latest Annapurna Interactive Showcase. Commonly described as a playable pop album, Sayonara Wild Hearts is a musical rhythm game infused with tons of style and flair. Although a short experience, Sayonara Wild Hearts garnered massive critical acclaim when it was released in 2019, earning an 86 on OpenCritic, winning several awards, and being listed as “overwhelmingly positive” on Steam.
The indie publishing house Annapurna Interactive has just recently held another one of its yearly game showcases. The show provided release dates for some key titles indie fans have been paying attention to, like To a T, which releases in May, and the subversive cozy game Wanderstop, which was dated for March 11. Gamers also got new looks at games like the social bicycling playground Wheel World, and Annapurna also confirmed it’s once again teaming up with Geometric Interactive, the creators of 2023’s puzzle masterpiece Cocoon, for a new game.

At the 2025 Annapurna Interactive Showcase, Swedish developer Simogo showed up to reveal that its 2019 rhythm album game Sayonara Wild Hearts is out today on PlayStation 5. The game will be able to run at 4K resolution at an impressive 120 frames-per-second, and take advantage of the PS5 DualSense’s haptic feedback feature. Additionally, the PlayStation 5 version of Sayonara Wild Hearts will have a PS5-exclusive mode named Remix Arcade, which will allow high-score chasers to replay infinite levels with no loading.
Sayonara Wild Hearts Shadow Drops on PlayStation 5
Since Sayonara Wild Hearts is finally making its move to a current-gen console like the PlayStation 5, it’ll be interesting to see whether it receives an Xbox Series X/S optimization anytime soon, as only the original Xbox One version of the game is currently playable on Xbox consoles. Perhaps the new Remix Arcade mode is labeled as PS5 exclusive for this reason, and that it’ll be available in the Series X/S version of the game if or when it comes out. However, PC gamers also being left out of the new Remix Arcade mode seems to indicate it may remain a PS5-exclusive mode long-term.
While Sayonara Wild Hearts is only just now coming to PS5 after nearly six years, the developers have been busy during that time. Lorelei and the Laser Eyes is Simogo’s most recent game, which was released last year to critical acclaim, earning a 94 on OpenCritic and several big award nominations. It’ll likely be a year or two before fans of Simogo can expect to hear more about what the team is working on next.
