If One Piece is famous for one thing, it is adventurous tales that come in the form of incredible flashbacks. Often, fans tend to get disinterested if a story cuts away from the present timeline to focus on the past. For One Piece, often, fans want the story to focus on the past a lot more, just because Oda writes things that well. One Piece has already delivered some top-notch flashbacks to the fans, but there are most definitely more to come.

It can be said that the best is yet to come, and one of them could potentially be linked to the Pirate King, Gol D. Roger himself. Roger is a key player in One Piece, even though he died a long time ago. He’s always been key in the overarching story, and there’s most definitely more to come from him in the story. In fact, Roger might even be present af Laugh Tale itself, crazy as that might sound to the fans, but looking a bit deeper into it, the idea makes a lot of sense.
Roger’s Body Is Nowhere To Be Seen
- The Pirate King Died Early In One Piece
- The Body Is Nowhere To Be Seen
The Pirate King, Gol D. Roger is the very first character that fans see in One Piece. Right when the manga begins, fans see Roger as the man who achieved everything in the world, that is, wealth, fame, and of course, power. Roger was then executed immediately after, and it was quite clear that he shook the entire world, starting the Great Age of Pirates with it. Everyone took to the seas after to claim what was believed to be Roger’s treasure, the One Piece. Yet, it is quite strange that after Roger’s death, his body is nowhere to be seen. When Whitebeard died, he got a burial and a massive grave.
You want my treasure? You can have it! I left everything this world has to offer at that place. Now you just have to find it! — Gol D. Roger
When Ace died, something very similar happened. In fact, since Ace and Whitebeard died together, both of them had their graves right next to each other. Yet, for Whitebeard, fans don’t know anything other than the fact that Loguetown is held in high regard because the Pirate King died there. Clearly, where Roger was buried must’ve been one of the places of highest importance in the world, yet nothing has been revealed about this so far. This makes one wonder, where exactly is Roger’s body? And why is it not relevant?
Given how meticulous a writer Oda is, it is a given that Roger’s body will come up at some point in the story. Perhaps, this will happen soon enough, when One Piece gets closer to its final destination, that is, the island where things will finally conclude, that is, Laugh Tale. As things stand, Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates are on the way to Laugh Tale, with just one more Road Poneglyph left to acquire. As soon as they acquire this Road Poneglyph, things will finally be settled, and they will finally be on the way to claiming the One Piece.
Why Roger Could Be At Laugh Tale
Roger’s Journey Could Be Shown At Laugh Tale
When looking at the journey of the Straw Hat Pirates, it is clear that they’ve always had very intriguing characters guide them. In fact, the Roger Pirates have almost acted as guides for the Straw Hats throughout their journey. At the very beginning of the Grand Line, the Straw Hats saw Crocus, the Doctor of the Roger Pirates who introduced them to some exciting concepts. At the midpoint, the Straw Hats met Silvers Rayleigh, the right-hand of the Pirate King and the man who helped Luffy get stronger.
Don’t worry. I’m not gonna die, partner. — Gol D. Roger
After Luffy became a Yonko, the Straw Hat Pirates met Gaban in Elbaf, right before the end of their journey to Laugh Tale, which means that the Straw Hats are very close to acquiring the last Road Poneglyph.
Clearly, at three points, three important members of the Roger Pirates have shown themselves, but what about the most important Roger Pirates? Surely, after Rayleigh and Gaban, Roger needs to show up as well? It would be poetic for Roger to show up at the very end of the journey, which would be at Laugh Tale.

Now, fans will clearly start calling One Piece ridiculous if Roger was simply seated in Laugh Tale waiting for Luffy. That’s clearly not going to happen. But, what if Roger’s body is at Laugh Tale? A skeleton of the Pirate King at the final destination would be the most pirate thing that Oda could do. As to why this would matter, it is quite simple. Roger would be the one to deliver the Rio Poneglyph. More than that, Roger’s body could have a tone dial, noting his entire journey, which could trigger a massive flashback of the Pirate King, from the beginning to the end, marking the perfect end to his story, and giving the fans a reason to love his character even more.
Roger’s Undying Tale Must Be Heard
Roger Is Waiting At Laugh Tale
Roger may be dead, but he is still waiting at Laugh Tale in his physical form, with his whole story to tell. In fact, Whitebeard even says in literal words that Roger is waiting for a certain man, and he clearly says to Teach that the man Roger is waiting for isn’t him. When Crocus sees off the Straw Hat Pirates, he is speaking to Roger, and he clearly tells Roger that the Straw Hats might be the ones that they’ve been waiting for. When Roger was executed, Rayleigh or Gaban weren’t even present, and neither were the Roger Pirates. This is rather weird, but would it be that weird if considering the fact that they knew where Roger’s body would be? If they knew to find Roger at Laugh Tale, then perhaps they all gave Roger a funeral there and paid tribute.
Regardless, fans will most definitely find out more about Roger and his journey on the Final Island, and it is here that Roger’s body can be found. As to how the body got there, Oda could’ve had Garp hand over the body to Rayleigh or Gaban as a mark of respect, who could then have transported the body to Laugh Tale, along with the tone dial, telling the whole story of the Roger Pirates from start to finish. The Pirate King’s story is going to be absolutely brilliant to tell, and fans absolutely cannot wait to see it once the story does get there.
