How To Escape With Hans And Brabant

After completing Via Argentum Quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, the next main thing on your list is the Taking French Leave mission. Having done the investigation for Ruthard, you now need to return to him so he can help you in freeing Lord Capon.

You will get to know about the secret passage that can be used to infiltrate the area Hans is being kept in. This quest is pretty complicated and can take a lot of your time. Here, we will guide you on how to complete this quest as quickly and as easily as possible.

Talk To Ruthard

Now that you have all the proof against Vavak, head over to Ruthard’s palace and talk to him. The guard will stop you, but tell him Lord Richard is expecting you, and he will take you there instantly. Give him the good news, and shortly after that, Vavak will come back with more men.

Ruthard will have a conversation with him and will ask you to give Vavak the news. Choose the option “You’re stealing the royal silver on a large scale”, and if the skill check succeeds, he will back down. However, if it doesn’t, a fight will break through, so defeat everyone.

The fight won’t be hard as you have allies alongside you. Try to target the ones who are already engaged in a fight to finish this battle quickly. After that, talk to Ruthard, and he will tell you how Capon can be saved. He will ask you to talk to his daughter, Rosa, about the secret passage as she knows more about it.

Talk To Rosa

Now, go up the stairs and talk to Rosa. She will tell you about the secret passage. To gain some reputation with her, choose the options:

“A clever solution”
“Come with me!”
“You won’t be a burden”

Rosa is a romanceable character in the game, so if you want to romance, you will need to increase as much reputation with her as possible.

While Rosa won’t go with you, she will ask you to do an important task for her, so choose the option “I’m listening”. She will tell you about a book, so choose the option “I’ll bring back the book, fear not!”. This will trigger a side quest, which you can complete during the main quest.

Before going to the next objective, make sure you have a spade, as in order to find the secret passage, you will need to do some digging.

Talk To Hashtal

Head to the coordinates marked on your map and talk to Hashtal. Ask him to get the horses ready for you, and he will comply after learning that Ruthard sent you. He will get the horses ready for you, so head to the next location and look for the old chapel.

The search area isn’t that big, and the old chapel can be found to the south. The tricky part is finding the secret passage from here. It is located to the north of the search area, so look for a tree with a white cross in front of it.

In front of the tree, you can dig and discover the secret passage. Now, head inside the passage, light a torch, and you will come across a ladder soon enough. Climb down the ladder and continue making your way through the passage. Eventually, you will come across a door open it and ahead of you will be a wall you can destroy.

After destroying the wall, climb through it and open another door, and a cutscene will commence. When the cutscene is over, you will have to find Hans Capon, but it won’t be that easy without the keys.

How To Save Hans Capon

Go down, and on the right side, you will notice a hut. In that hut, you will find the cook. Crouch and go behind her. Knock her out and get all the keys from her. This way, you won’t have to lockpick any of the doors, and the quest will become way easier.

Now, get out of the hut and make your way through the passage on your right. Make sure you are crouching, and if there is any guard on the watch, stealth kill him from behind. After that, head left and go up the stairs. This is the tower where Hans is being kept, so open the door using the keys and head inside.

After that, enter through the door on your left and go up the stairs just a bit. You will notice two guards arguing with a woman, so wait until they are finished. When the guards are finished, they will come back down, so make sure to go back into the hallway and wait for them to get inside the room.

If you don’t grab the swords for Hans and Brabant, you will be tasked with the objective of doing so. So, it is better to grab the swords before meeting them.

Now that they are in the room, head up and open the door to the left. Lady Ofka will be sitting with her face in the opposite direction, so on your left, grab the two swords and head up the stairs. After that, simply go to the staircase and unlock the door.

In the same room where Lady Ofka is, you will find the book Rosa wanted. You can get that if you want to complete the side quest. There is also plenty of other stuff to loot.

Upon doing so, a cutscene will commence, and Henry and Capon will finally be united. You will now have to explain the escape plan to Hans, and to no one’s surprise, the spoiled brat does not agree with it.

You can’t convince him to escape through the passageway, but there are several ways to escape.

How To Escape With Hans And Brabant

First of you will have to give Hans and Brabant a weapon. Give both of them the weapons you just stole from the room below. Now, there are several ways you can escape. While Hans has clearly refused to go through the secret passageway, there is still a way to go from there.

After your conversation is over, Hans will go and stand by the window. Crouch behind him and knock him out. Even if you fail, just back off, and he will go into the same position again. Take as many tries as you need. After you have knocked him out, pick up his body and go to the secret passageway. Brabant will also follow you.

Clear the way to the secret passage before picking up Hans, as you won’t be able to do anything except walk once you have his body on your shoulder.

Another way is to simply kill every soldier. You can either kill the soldiers in a stealthy way by asking Hans and Brabant to wait, or you can ask them to go straight to the horses. The latter is pretty risky, as the quest will fail if Hans of Brabant dies.

The best method is knocking Hans out, but if you are having trouble with that, it is best to take out the guards stealthily. Now open the door, get on the horse, and escape.

On the way, make fun of Brabant’s name and enjoy the journey. Shortly, you will encounter Hanush and his men. He will ask you to explain what has happened. Do so, and at the end, everyone else will head to Raborsch and will ask you to make your way there. With that, the quest will be completed.
