Elbaf has introduced many powerful characters. Luffy has huge competition in this One Piece arc.

One Piece chapter 1140 focused a lot on the fight between Luffy and Scopper Gaban, and at the same time, the arrival of two Holy Knights to the land of the Giants. With that, the stage is now set for the second act of Elbaf, and things will most definitely be on a completely different level here. In that regard, One Piece chapter 1140 was of massive importance and it will only add to the story, especially now that it is clear that One Piece is not on break next week.

Luffy Vs Gaban Begins

  • Scopper Gaban Challenged Luffy To Take The Key From Him
  • Luffy And Zoro Were Shocked To See Gaban’s Strength

One Piece chapter 1140 started right where the previous one left off, and fans got to see the incredible battle between Luffy and Scopper Gaban, although it was a friendly battle, to say the least. Neither of the fighters was serious in the fight, but that’s not to say that Gaban didn’t get to show a glimpse of what he was capable of. Luffy immediately went in with a couple of grabs in One Piece chapter 1140, and failed to retrieve the key.

You sure like to chatter a lot, boy! — Scopper Gaban

Gaban’s Incredible Observation Haki was seen at work and he effortlessly dodged every attack that Luffy threw at him. That wasn’t all. When Luffy started getting more serious, Gaban raised the heat on his own and responded with a powerful blow with the key, coating it in the Color of the Supreme King Haki, as is indicated by the black lightning and the crackle SFX coming off of the key. This was just a small glimpse of what Gaban could do in battle, and it is somebody that fans truly loved to see.

All this time, Luffy still didn’t go all out in the fight, and that was because he didn’t think fighting Gaban was the right thing to do. That said, he switched the second Gaban brought Shanks into the equation. In order to rile Luffy up, Gaban immediately started disrespecting Shanks, which certainly did work, and although Luffy’s attacks started getting more frantic, Gaban didn’t have any issues whatsoever dodging whatever he threw at him. Despite Luffy being a Yonko, Oda didn’t miss the chance to have a legendary old man make a fool out of him, which just goes to show that despite being old and way past his prime, Scopper Gaban is a force to be reckoned with and a monster in his own right.

This was even clearer when Gaban launched a very powerful strike moments after, named Yasotakeru. This attack was the first time Gaban brought out his axes in the battle, and it most certainly was a devastating sight to see. Upon equipping himself with both axes, Gaban unleashed a flurry of slashes at Luffy, and despite not being coated in Haki, these slashes were so powerful that they actually sent shivers down Luffy’s body, making him shake from top to bottom, while making Zoro, who wasn’t even involved in the battle, sweat, and asking Luffy to dodge, no matter what. This attack also proved to be strong enough to cut through a whole section of Aurust Castle, which in itself is comparable to a town, and even a massive cloud in the sky.

Gaban Gives Up In One Piece 1140

Scopper Gaban Wanted To See Gear 5

This is where the interesting bits happened, however, as Luffy took to Gear 5, and Zoro immediately tapped into his Supreme King Haki. As both of them went to attack Gaban, the old man simply gave up, and this was clearly because his mission was accomplished. Gaban wanted to see Gear 5 and confirm what he found out at Laugh Tale himself. Seeing Luffy’s strength, his strong crewmates, and Nika for himself, Gaban didn’t want anything else, so he entrusted the key to Luffy, which is also indicative of the fact that he believes Luffy can handle Loki if things go south.

Most importantly, Gaban asked Luffy to seek him out before he leaves Elbaf, if the country is still standing. This clearly implies that Gaban will give information about the last Road Poneglyph to Luffy, and with that, the story will enter the final phase after the arc is over.

Two More Holy Knights Appear

  • Gunko Summons Two Holy Knights
  • Shamrock To Return To Marijoa

The second half of One Piece chapter 1140 was entirely focused on Gunko and Shamrock. These two individuals announced their goal a while ago, and it was clear that they wanted to go around Elbaf kidnapping children. In this chapter, they finally went close to Walrus School, where the children immediately recognized the giant bird they were flying on. Gunko was then seen using her powers to summon the extra member, but instead of one, two Holy Knights appeared.

The reason for this was also revealed, and it was made clear to the fans that an extra member was sent because Shamrock was to report back to Marijoa. This order comes from above, so it is interesting to see whether it was Garling who requested his presence, being the Supreme Commander of the Holy Knights previously, or if it was Imu themself. Things will most definitely be clear as the story heads into the next phase of Elbaf.

Regardless, the two Holy Knights who appeared certainly look menacing on their own. One of them, Saint Sommers, belongs to the Shepherd family, which fans should be very familiar with already, as that’s the very same family that Ju Peter is from. The other is from a completely new family, called the Rimoshifu family, and his name is Saint Killingham. Interestingly enough, Saint Killingham showed his Devil Fruit power as well, as he entered Elbaf in his hybrid form, and it was clear to see that he had a Kirin Devil Fruit. This creature is one of the mightiest and most divine in Japanese mythology, and it is most certainly going to be overpowered.

With Shamrock now expected to head back to Marijoa, it is highly likely that the other three, that is, Gunko, Killingham, and Sommers, are going to take charge of the situation and kidnap the children, taking them back to the Holy Land, although not through the Abyss (the summoning circle), as one needs to have a certain mark to pass through it, which the children wouldn’t have. Before things wrapped up, Shamrock suggested starting a game in Elbaf, which may be similar to the Native Hunting Games that took place in God Valley 38 years ago, and things are only going to get more exciting from here onward.

One Piece is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus apps. The release date for the next chapter of One Piece, One Piece 1141, is set to be March 2, 2025.
