Speculation about an expansion popped up last year, and now a new rumor suggests that Hogwarts Legacy could be getting extra content in 2025. Unfortunately, WB and developer Avalanche Software have yet to officially confirm or deny such reports, leaving any potential DLC a mystery.
Originally released at the beginning of 2023, Hogwarts Legacy has become one of the most popular RPGs at the moment. Finally getting a chance to jump into the shoes of a wizard going to school at the titular Hogwarts was a thrilling prospect for many, and it continues to still attract an impressive number of players. Although Hogwarts Legacy and The Sims franchise share very little in common, the latter is a great example of how franchises can continue to offer DLCs years later and still attract players. Granted, Hogwarts Legacy may not exactly boast the same level of replayability that The Sims does, but an expansion launching two years, or even more, after the RPG’s initial launch isn’t that out of the ordinary. Just recently, The Sims 4 announced its brand-new Businesses & Hobbies expansion pack, further proving that extra in-game content can still be attractive years later.
Ultimately, Hogwarts Legacy‘s different genre doesn’t exclude it from the same type of pull when it comes to future DLC. Borderlands 2 added extra content to the game even after support had stopped. Command Lilith & the Fight for Sanctuary is a campaign expansion that was released seven whole years after Borderlands 2 launched and five years after the game’s last piece of DLC. Despite such a lengthy gap between releases, it still attracted players.
Reports claiming Hogwarts Legacy is in line to get a DLC come from Bloomberg. The report cites that Avalanche Software is developing “new content” for the game. However, this doesn’t exactly confirm a full-blown expansion.
With Hogwarts Legacy, there is only a two-year gap right now, so the wait could easily be much longer. DLC two years after a game’s launch is not uncommon. Of course, the reports suggesting a 2025 release could be wrong, and players may even have to wait until 2026. However, that still isn’t that long of a wait, especially when the base version of Hogwarts Legacy is already filled with a lot of content.
Even if an expansion takes a long time to be released, many Hogwarts Legacy fans are bound to still be excited.

As the highest-selling game of 2023, it would make complete sense to offer players DLC.
