Warning: The following contains spoilers for Dragon Ball DAIMA Episode 19, “Betrayal”, now streaming on Crunchyroll.

Summary

  • Supreme Demon King Gomah gets a power boost from Evil Third Eye; Demon Realm Porunga may turn the tide.
  • Glorio betrays Arinsu, uses Porunga wish to undo Gomah’s spell; heroes return to full size.
  • Super Saiyan 3 Vegeta appears, Arinsu helps Goku team by revealing Gomah’s weakness.

Dragon Ball DAIMA began with Goku and friends getting shrunk down to the size of children, but those miniature bodies have been struggling to keep up with Supreme Demon King Gomah. The Evil Third Eye keeps pushing Gomah to new heights, and it’ll take something huge to take him down. With the summoning of Demon Realm Porunga, this may be the final chance for Earth’s heroes to turn the tide before the finale of Dragon Ball DAIMA.

Just as it looked like Goku could defeat the last Tamagami and move on to summoning the eternal dragon of the Demon Realm, two separate evil plots interfered. Believing in her warrior’s power, Arinsu initially suggested Majin Duu take on Goku with the winner receiving all three Demon Realm Dragon Balls. Just as that fight heated up, Supreme Demon King Gomah made his entrance wielding the dark magic power of the Tertian Oculus. Not even Super Saiyan 4 Goku (Mini) could take out Gomah, but Demon Realm Porunga is primed to grant a gamechanging wish in the penultimate episode of Dragon Ball DAIMA.

Dragon Ball DAIMA: Glorio Redeems Himself With Second Betrayal

Goku Turns a Villain Into an Ally Once Again

If there’s one thing viewers can count on in Dragon Ball DAIMA, it’s that nothing ever goes according to plan. From the very beginning, Supreme Demon King Gomah had his own plan foiled by the fact that Shenron would only grant a single wish. Gomah successfully shrunk Earth’s heroes down to the size of children, but he didn’t get the Evil Third Eye until luck intervened many episodes later. For much of the series, it seemed like Dr. Arinsu was on track to become the biggest threat Goku and company would face. While the Majin brothers were at her side, the most important part of Arinsu’s plan was actually Glorio. As their journey through the Demon Realm rolled on, Glorio grew closer to his new companions but continued to secretly check in with Arinsu and report on their progress.

At the end of Dragon Ball DAIMA Episode 18, Arinsu activated her double agent and ordered Glorio to bring her the other two Demon Realm Dragon Balls. Panzy, Bulma, and everyone else looked over in shock as Glorio stood with Dr. Arinsu and summoned Demon Realm Porunga. While being berated by orders from Arinsu, Glorio’s thoughts drifted back to the journey that brought him to this moment. Memories with Goku, Panzy, Shin, and the others flooded Glorio’s mind as he finally spoke the wish: “Peltotep… Sari… Kontoputtorahtons… Tela… Chilldopp!” Arinsu celebrated while expecting to be imbued with magic power, but Glorio’s wish did exactly what Earth’s heroes needed. Everyone that had been shrunk down to miniature size by Gomah’s wish to Shenron began to grow, and in moments everyone had returned to their normal adult bodies. Arinsu promptly fired Glorio after realizing he’d chosen to betray her instead of the others, but Goku and friends welcomed Glorio back with open arms.

Dragon Ball DAIMA: Evil Eye Gomah vs. Super Saiyan 3 Vegeta

Yet Another Villain Decides to Help Goku

With everyone finally back in their adult bodies for the first time since the premiere of Dragon Ball DAIMA, old habits were back in charge. Goku immediately suggested they return to fighting one at a time rather than as a group, but it was in fact Vegeta’s turn since Goku had fought Majin Duu. After testing out his base form briefly, Vegeta pulled the trigger on his strongest transformation. With a surge of energy, Super Saiyan 3 Vegeta made his first non-miniaturized canon appearance in the Dragon Ball franchise.

This provided a massive power increase, but Gomah continued to shrug things off with the power of the Evil Third Eye. Vegeta was also fast approaching the biggest weakness of the Super Saiyan 3 transformation as maintaining it quickly burned through his energy reserves. Seeing that even this wasn’t stopping Gomah, Arinsu suddenly remembered a critical detail from the time of Supreme Demon King Abura and dispatched Majin Kuu to retrieve her Book of Magic Items.

Vegeta was also fast approaching the biggest weakness of the Super Saiyan 3 transformation as maintaining it quickly burned through his energy reserves.

With confirmation from that tome, Dr. Arinsu became the second villain in this episode to turn and help Earth’s heroes. Arinsu informed Goku and friends that the Tertian Oculus can be removed if they hit the back of Gomah’s head three times in a row. Much like every other Dragon Ball villain that has reluctantly sided with Goku in the heat of battle, Arinsu shrugged off their thanks and insisted she only helped because she wants Gomah defeated. Goku and Piccolo coordinated a plan, but it took Bulma threatening to never take a bath with Vegeta again to convince the prideful Saiyan to step down from the fight. While Piccolo stealthily moved into position, Goku powered his way through a series of transformations. With a blinding flash of energy, full-sized Super Saiyan 4 Goku emerged as the penultimate episode of this season (or series) came to an end. It’s all down to the final stand against Supreme Demon King Gomah in the finale of Dragon Ball DAIMA.
