Summary
- In the time since launch, Black Ops 6 has rapidly transformed to include more and more crossover skins.
- The end result is a game that looks vastly different from the one players first experienced back in October.
- Among the many crossovers included in the game are skins dedicated to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Squid Game and The Terminator.
The version of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 that launched in October of last year is nearly indistinguishable to the version of Black Ops 6 that exists right now. Tucked away are the launch-day militaristic operators, and in are the likes of the recently released Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, figures from Squid Game and even The Terminator.

Players Are Already Turning Against Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6
What began as a fan favourite entry has quickly soured into something sad and corporate.
That’s not to make mention of non-crossover characters like a blue iceman that was being labeled “pay-to-win” due to its ability to obstruct vision. Or a finishing move involving a unicorn farting on the opponent. Or the accusations of non-disclosed AI use in the game. With all that in mind, earlier this week, one gamer pointed out just how absurd things have gotten in the four months since launch.
Do You Want Some Crossovers With Your Call Of Duty?
Taking to Twitter, B23, a Call of Duty content creator, shared what Black Ops 6’s operators page looks like as of this week, and to no surprise, it’s nearly all crossovers.
Right off the rip, you can see all four Ninja Turtles, plus The Replacer and his Blackcell variant, along with T-800 and various Squid Game characters. For reference, minus the recently released Turtles, the cost of all those skins is about $1,000, according to calculations done by our Sam Woods.
A quick peek at the screen and it’s no wonder why gamers have been calling for the game to be free-to-play. Between the mass number of operator skins, plus event passes and battle passes, there is no shortage of microtransactions in Black Ops 6. Perhaps most noteworthy is the fact that, ahead of launch, Treyarch affirmed that it would not be implementing “Carry Forward” skins in BO6.
At the time, a blog post noted that, “Allowing everyone to experience the Black Ops universe the way it’s meant to be played, learning the era-specific weapons and gear, learning the gameplay innovations like Omnimovement, and keeping that signature Black Ops style is important.”
Those words led fans to speculate that it would mean fewer ridiculous skins and more era-specific items. Of course, all of that wasn’t meant to be, and for better or worse, Black Ops 6 has since followed the path of previous Call of Duty titles and it shows no signs of stopping.
