The introduction of an Avatar: the Last Airbender expansion for Magic: the Gathering looks to have plenty of source material to pull from for its cards. The set is expected to feature cards based on both the original Avatar: the Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra, likely including some as cover cards for a new batch of Commander decks as well. Nickelodeon also recently confirmed a new series within the Avatar universe is in development following the end of The Legend of Korra, which could potentially feature some cards in the set.

While many fans have focused on the variety of “Universes Beyond” offerings coming to Magic: the Gathering, Wizards of the Coast is not ignoring its core story. February saw the release of “Aetherdrift” as a bold new set, built around a heavy racing aesthetic stretching across worlds like Muraganda, Avishkar, and Amonkhet. Magic: the Gathering also has several more sets within its own universe planned, including a return to Tarkir with the upcoming “Tarkir: Dragonstorm” and “Edge of Eternities” as a Magic: the Gathering-themed “space opera.” Fans of Magic look to have a variety of new and unique content on the way soon.
