Dragon Ball is known for containing multiple anime series, each with so many epic episodes and memorable moments. Throughout the franchise, many characters have been introduced, some that have stayed for a while and are now beloved by fans, others have made short but epic appearances. This includes a plethora of Saiyans like Goku and Vegeta who have changed the course of the franchise and added to its depth.

Yet, not all characters have the luxury of becoming iconic parts of the franchise and, as a result, have fallen into the cracks of time, especially when it comes to the Saiyan race. While some of these characters were forgotten, others were just in the anime for very few episodes, failing to make a lasting impression. This is especially obvious when comparing the role of some Saiyans when compared to how much impact warriors like Goku, Vegeta, Trunks, or Gohan have on the franchise.

Gine

An Overlooked Central Saiyan That Could Stand Out

As a character with such a central role in the franchise, Gine’s participation in the Dragon Ball universe has been minor, to say the least. Gine died with the rest of the Saiyan race, which means she appears very little in the franchise, especially considering she is Goku’s mother.

While her small appearances did leave an impression, she is not nearly as memorable as her husband, Bardock, who shares Goku’s physical appearance. Yet, if given a fraction of the focus provided for both her son and her husband, Gine could solidify her place as one of the best female characters in Dragon Ball.

Moroko And The Other Saiyan Scientists

No Memorable Individuals In A Special Saiyan Group

• Status: Dead

One would think that being a scientist in a warrior race would make a character memorable, yet that is not the case with Moroko and Nion, who were forgotten with the rest of this group. Appearing in the Dragon Ball Super: Broly movie, these characters identified Broly’s potential but had no role besides that.

This team of scientist Saiyans makes a quick appearance in the movie and is introduced only to die later. While they were made to be forgotten, Moroko, Nion, and the others managed to at least stand out among a forgotten race, despite not being individually memorable.

Raditz

A Forgettable Antagonist Made Memorable

• Status: Dead

Raditz has everything to be a forgettable Saiyan and antagonist, considering his power level among the warrior race and his lackluster personality. Yet the circumstances in which he was introduced made him more memorable to fans than he should have been. Raditz is one of the weakest Saiyans but became memorable as an introductory tool to one of the franchise’s Saiyan arc and one of the best characters: Vegeta.

At the end of the day, the storyline surrounding Raditz and his lineage are the main reasons this character is recognizable, otherwise he would be just one of the many lower-level Saiyans that died.

Paragus

A Second-Rate Saiyan Parent To A Top-Tier Warrior

• Status: Dead

Paragus may be the parent of one of the most powerful Saiyans to ever exist, yet he fails to stand out as a Saiyan warrior himself. Despite being a colonel in the Saiyan Army, Paragus never displayed any real power, yet his son Broly displayed a power level abnormally high, stemming from a genetic anomaly.

Of what is seen of Paragus, he is overshadowed by his son’s greatness, having his strength lie with his ability to control his son’s power, rendering him defenseless and characterless without Broly by his side.

Nappa

An Average Saiyan That Wasted His Screen Time

• Status: Dead

While Nappa is one of the Saiyans that appears the most in the franchise, he is also the epitome of a regular Saiyan warrior, with very little that makes him stand out. Unlike other Saiyans, he had the screentime to be more fleshed out but failed to go beyond an obstacle for Goku to overcome.

Moreover, he turned out to be surprisingly weak, despite being introduced as a powerful foe. Overall, Nappa was an average Saiyan warrior who failed to live up to his self-proclaimed prowess and who showed very little personality, especially next to Vegeta.

Renso

A Brief Introduction To A Saiyan With Potential

• Status: Alive

While he is the older brother of one of the most powerful Sayians in the franchise and the old master of the young promising warrior Cabba, very little is known of Renso. With the potential to be a memorable character, especially when considering his relationship with both Caulifla and Cabba, this Saiyan is brushed over due to an injury that led to an early fighting retirement.

Renso does have the potential to be a memorable Saiyan with some more backstory, but with the little attention given to him in the anime series so far, he has fallen into the background, joining the many Saiyans that were briefly introduced.

Leek

A Canon Part Of Bardock’s Forgotten Team

• First canon appearance: Dragon Ball Super: Broly
• Status: Dead

Bardock’s teammates have always fallen into oblivion, yet in the canon, Leek is the member who was brushed over. As one of the many Saiyan that were killed by Frieza, Leek did not have enough screen time to develop a personality, despite receiving some screen time in the movie.

Leek represents the many Saiyans, like Beets, who are briefly introduced in the canon through Planet Vegeta’s backstory, but who never get a chance to become memorable.

Tarble

Vegeta’s Forgotten And Forgettable Younger Brother

• First canon appearance: Mentioned in Dragon Ball: Battle of Gods
• Status: Alive

As Vegeta’s brother, a member of the royal family, and one of the few Saiyans who are still alive, Tarble has everything to be a memorable character. Yet, he has been forgotten by the franchise and the fans, as a Saiyan that has yet to make a canon appearance.

He has been mentioned a few times in the canon and appeared in some non-canon content, yet so far he has been forgotten and forgettable, with no screen time to mend the situation. It might be that Tarble appears in a storyline in the future and becomes an iconic part of the story, but for now, the closest he has gotten to recognition is being Vegeta’s forgotten brother.
