But before you start grinding matches or navigating the battle pass, let’s break down everything you need to know about these boxes: how to get them, what they contain, and how to make the most of your rewards.
How To Get Loot Boxes
Loot Boxes can be earned through gameplay. Each week, you can earn up to three Loot Boxes by completing up to 27 games, with wins counting as double. This progress can be tracked by clicking ‘Play’ and checking the tracker at the top-left corner of the game choices screen. Additionally, you can earn them by completing certain event challenges. You can find these and their unlock requirements by clicking on the right side of your home screen.
The Battle Pass also offers a few legendary Loot Boxes through the free and premium track.
To open your loot boxes, click the ‘Loot Boxes’ button on the left side of the homepage, just below the ‘Battle Pass’ button.
Additionally, one free legendary Loot Box is available in the free track of the battle pass, while the premium track offers two more legendary Loot Boxes.
What Do Lootboxes Give?
Every Loot Box contains four cosmetic items drawn from a curated selection of Overwatch and Overwatch 2 items. The items are randomly selected at the time of opening, and the system prioritizes giving you items you don’t already own. If a Loot Box cannot avoid duplicates, it will instead contribute progress toward earning a bonus Loot Box.

- Souvenirs
- Voice Lines
- Sprays
Unopened Loot Boxes from previous seasons are automatically opened at the start of each new season, with all items added to your collection.
