Once you’ve run the gamut of available challenges in the Pirates’ Coliseum, the receptionist congratulates you before you have your celebration cut short by the existence of one more challenger: the Amon Pirates. With your last opponents finally revealed, it’s time to put your naval skills and one-on-one combat prowess to the test.

How To Prepare For The Ultimate Pirate Crew Showdown

Before you can gain access to the Ultimate Pirate Crew Showdown, you must defeat every match in the following events:

  1. Quick Clash
  2. Madlantis Mania
  3. Tournament Of Captains
  4. Swashbuckler Showdown

Once you’ve claimed the Earth Stone for your impressive victory over the competition, you’ll be rewarded with the honor of facing the greatest pirates in the Coliseum, the Amon Pirates.

Before you begin, you should aim to have Majima’s Attack as close to Extreme Level Ten as possible, with Health at least in the Extreme Level Three range.

Your crew should look something like this to have a good chance of winning:

Cannon Squad

Port

  • Nishida
  • Julie
  • Steve
  • Captain Beef
  • Daisaku Minami
  • Natasha
  • Arque Dangerous III

If you can replace any of the lower-tier crew members with better options, go ahead, but you should be able to win using this composition.

How To Defeat The Ultimate Pirate Crew Showdown

With a strong core in place, you’re ready to face Taiyo Amon and his pirate crew.

The Amon Clan returns as the Amon Pirates, and their 10,000 HP ship is outfitted with several dangerous weapons it can throw your way.

Aside from the large size that allows for several Flame Cannons to set your ship on fire, and the ability to ram you at high speeds, the Amon ship has even more firepower to dish out.

Occasionally, the vessel will throw out a wide cast of explosive barrels and can periodically fire off a string of mortars that lock in on your expected position.

Adept use of drifting is required to avoid barrel and mortar attacks while chasing the Amon ship.

Once you whittle its HP down by persistently chasing and firing your Frost Machine Guns to trap the ship in position for Cannon follow-ups, you’ll progress to the deck battle segment.

The Amon crew is 50 pirates deep, including their Captain, Taiyo Amon.

Once your Madness Gauge is full, use the Dark God’s Saxophone and clear out a large portion of the Amon crew in one swoop.

With their ranks severely weakened, pick off the remaining Amon pirates, and soon you’ll emerge victorious.

However, upon your return, Taiyo Amon will challenge you to one-on-one combat, putting one more foe in your way.

When you’re ready, the match “The Ultimate Captain’s Showdown” can be selected from the Tournament of Captains tab in the Pirates’ Coliseum.

How To Beat Taiyo Amon

Once you’re in the final battle, it’s just you and Amon – who is using a modified version of your Sea Dog style.

One of Amon’s most dangerous moves is his chain hook dash, which he uses on you when you’re far away, jumping to get behind, and creating a brief opening.

Keeping your spacing close to mid-range, alternating dodging and blocking, and especially perfect guarding, will be mandatory.

Soon, once at the silver health bar, Amon will perform two attacks at once:

  1. Summon Clones
  2. Homing Knives

When Amon summons the knife attack that hovers above you for a moment, you must use your block to deflect the onslaught of knives and gunshots from the clones Amon summons.

Continue to hold down guard during Amon’s knife attack, or you will be staggered and defeated in seconds.

One of the best combos to use on Amon is the Chain Hook and Run Through attack (Y/Triangle), which should allow you to chain this combination and get many safe chunks of damage on him without having to counterattack.

Don’t be afraid to pause and heal from your Inventory often, as Amon’s attack can decimate chunks of your health.

Your top priority is to eliminate Amon’s clones as fast as possible, or they will continuously overwhelm you and do massive amounts of damage. Use any counterattacks with Perfect Guard or AoE Heat Action to deal with their ranks.

Summon clones of your own in response or use one of the Dark Instruments (we recommend the Dark Violin or Ocarina here, but any can help).

With the clones dealt with, you can rely on the Chain Hook combo to easily take down Taiyo Amon and claim victory.

For all your hard work, you’ll receive the Champion’s Ring, which gradually increases your Heat Gauge while in combat.

Majima receives the Champion's Ring in Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza In Hawaii.

Congratulations, new champion of the Pirates’ Coliseum.
