Fortnite players have taken to social media to express their disappointment with default cosmetics being gated behind six pages of bonus rewards in the battle pass for Chapter 6 Season 2. Bonus rewards offer Fortnite players the ability to acquire more edit styles and items that were not included in the base battle pass. In order to collect all of these cosmetics, gamers typically need to earn 150 levels in total.
Epic Games recently released Chapter 6 Season 2 of Fortnite and many aspects of the update have been well-received. A large portion of the community has expressed enthusiasm about the new changes to the map, which added fresh locations for players to explore. Some people have even praised the game’s loot pool as they try out new weapons and items. The Kneecapper seems to have caught a lot of attention, as it allows players to sprint toward enemies with a baseball bat, deliver a vicious series of blows, and then knock the foe away. Many gamers have also responded positively to the inclusion of skins like Big Dill and Outlaw Midas in the battle pass.

In a recent post on Reddit, BuffWobbuffet pointed out that the default style of the Pickle Chip glider can only be unlocked by reaching page six of the bonus rewards for the Chapter 6 Season 2 battle pass in Fortnite. Meanwhile, the default version of the Big Dill skin is available in the base version of the battle pass, which can be fully unlocked by gaining 100 levels. BuffWobbuffet claimed that the decision seemed “ridiculous,” as not everyone has the time or ability to complete the entire pass and additional bonus rewards.
Fortnite Fans Want the Base Battle Pass To Include Default Cosmetics
Fellow fans pointed out that this issue isn’t exclusive to Chapter 6 Season 2 of Fortnite, as the previous battle pass did a similar thing with default cosmetics. Some gamers stated that they were unable to claim all the items, as they only reached level 100 during the season. A few even said they felt punished, as they now have mismatched cosmetics even though they completed the entire battle pass. One person said that gating default edit styles behind bonus rewards makes them feel essential instead of optional.
In another discussion, some fans took issue with the fact that Fortnite‘s battle passes no longer offer Kicks, which appeared once in November and then became available exclusively through the Item Shop. While a lot of gamers seem to enjoy the idea of Kicks, they also feel the cosmetic is regularly overpriced, with many being valued at 1,000 V-Bucks. Some seem to feel that Kicks would be more appealing if they were half the price or included with passes and events. Despite a few gripes about the battle pass, many players are looking forward to seeing what Chapter 6 Season 2 has to offer.
