Days Gone Remastered’s Content Could Use One Gameplay Improvement

Days Gone Remastered's Content Could Use One Gameplay Improvement

Days Gone Remastered has finally been officially confirmed, as the recent Sony State of Play revealed the first look at this updated version of the zombie adventure. There has been speculation regarding Days Gone Remastered for a while now, and now that it has finally been confirmed, the further reveal of extra in-game content is intriguing.

Ultimately, Days Gone Remastered is bittersweet. On the one hand, it’s exciting that the game is back in the spotlight and is getting additional content, but the hope and desire for a Days Gone sequel still remains. Only time will tell if a second chapter ever becomes reality, but in the meantime, Days Gone Remastered gives the game a second chance. From the addition of permadeath to an enhanced photo mode, the extra content is promising, but there will hopefully be even larger hordes included in the game, too.

Days Gone Remastered Pre-Orders Are Off to a Positive Start

Unaffected by criticism, the pre-order performance of Days Gone Remastered so far seems to be going remarkably well on PlayStation.

Days Gone Remastered Should Kick the Game’s Hordes Into Overdrive

More Freakers Can Elevate Days Gone’s Survival Elements

  • In the original game, zombie hordes ranged anywhere between 25 and 500 zombies.

In Days Gone, there are a total of 40 hordes players have to destroy in order to complete the Horde Killer storyline, and they each vary in number greatly. Smaller hordes encountered at locations like Little Bear Lake and White King Mine ease players into taking down an onslaught of Freakers, while the more harrowing hordes, like the Sawmill horde, turn up the game’s tension to an extra level. However, there is still room for improvement when it comes to horde sizes, and Days Gone Remastered will hopefully bring an even more difficult experience to the number of Freakers faced.

Days Gone Remastered is set to be released on April 25, 2025.

Larger horde sizes would be great in the game’s story, but based on what information Sony has confirmed for Days Gone Remastered, it’s unlikely that there will be significant changes made to the base game. However, thanks to the introduction of a full-blown horde mode, players who are wishing for more intense Freaker encounters will hopefully be able to scratch that itch.

Days Gone Remastered’s Horde Mode Promises Greater Intensity

The official name of the mode is Horde Assault, with Days Gone Remastered teasing waves upon waves of Freakers that players will have to take on. An additional horde mode is a strong improvement to the original Days Gone, but if the larger horde sizes are only left to the extra mode, then that could also be disappointing when playing the game’s story.

An extra game mode is good news, but for players who have spent a lot of time with the original version since 2019, there doesn’t seem to be much of a change offered in the story mode, besides a permadeath option. Granted, that presents a huge challenge on its own, but the choice to experience the story and take on even more harrowing hordes at the same time would likely only enhance the narrative. The reception to Days Gone Remastered has been a bit mixed, but enhancing the game’s story mode in addition to extra content could potentially get fans more excited.

Days Gone Remastered will be a digital-only release. For those who already own the game, upgrading to the remastered version will cost only $10.

Days Gone Remastered Hopefully Opens the Door for More

Despite this remastered version, the demand for Days Gone 2 has still not ceased, and it likely never will. Hope may dwindle with the passage of time, but there are a lot of gamers who loved Days Gone and wish to see it become a larger franchise. Days Gone Remastered may not be the news many were hoping for, but it could potentially set the stage for something more significant down the road.
