Call of Duty Zombies: Best Cut Content
Views: 0

Thanks to a plethora of leaks, interviews, and theories, there has been an abundance of cut content revealed from Call of Duty Zombies, the beloved game mode that has a life and a fanbase of its own. The best cut content in COD Zombies often spans across various unmade maps, unfinished Perks, and mechanics in place that never reached the final stages to enter into the hands of players.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 3 – Best Zombies Maps, Ranked

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 has one of the most beloved Zombies modes in the franchise’s history, but how does every map rank to decide the best?

There is an abundance of cut content for COD Zombies, and much of it should definitely return for Black Ops 6, or a future Treyarch title. With so much to uncover, it’s time to look at some of the most interesting aspects and to look back at which content deserves another shot in a newer and more refined version of Call of Duty.

Zombie Game Modes

Party-Based Modes for Zombie Fans to Enjoy

While Black Ops 2 did feature some game modes for Zombies like Grief and Turned, and Black Ops 6 seeks to bring back Cranked, there are some game modes that never made it to the hands of players, and they were certainly oddities that deserved more refinements. There were multiple game modes that were found for Black Ops 2 Zombies.

One such game mode that exists is Meat, which involves American Football-like mechanics in which two teams compete to grab meat from the center and run it back to their goals while being chased by zombies. Other rumored modes, like Cleansed, where players must outlast each other to become the last human standing, show that there’s immense potential for fun party modes in Zombies outside of wave-based gameplay.

Super Easter Egg Rewards

Great Rewards For Those Willing to Beat Every Easter Egg

Main easter eggs are part of the intense charm of COD Zombies, and for every new map released, there’s an easter egg quest that players hunt for and try to complete. While easter eggs in recent years have only gotten better with how integrated they are with the maps and the story, they have lost a sense of appeal due to the fact that there’s no super easter egg reward like in Black Ops 3.

Call of Duty: 10 Hardest Zombies Maps

The Call of Duty franchise has plenty of challenging zombie maps that will test the survival skills of players across a variety of locations.

While Black Ops 3 provided players with a calling card, an RK5 on spawn, and a max ammo pistol, there could be more rewards in the future, especially when cut content shows Dr. Monty’s Special Pack-a-Punch Machine. While this never left the concept stage, this was exclusive to those who beat all previous easter eggs, and it would have featured ideas such as:

  • Larger ammo clip
  • Larger stock
  • Alternate ammo type percentage increases (Ammo Mods)
  • New Pack-a-Punch skin
  • Percentage chance on zombie kills to drop Mega Gumballs for immediate use

A Far Larger Origins

Pre-Alpha Builds of Origins Shows Extended Areas

Origins is one of the larger maps for Black Ops 2 Zombies, and easily an S-Tier map when it comes to the overall design. The Wonder Weapons featuring Elemental Staffs, No Man’s Land, and the giant robots that stomp down onto the battlefield provide an immense sense of scale and immersion, but one that was almost even bigger than initially seen.

Origins was supposed to have a village section, along with potential new areas like a farmhouse and a graveyard, but due to the limitations on the PS3 and Xbox 360, it’s likely that these were cut – so why not bring them back for a future remaster?

Different Zombies Difficulties

Challenging Difficulty Options Could Provide Additional Rewards

Some might find the round-based mode of Zombies a tad repetitive at times, which is why the plans for different difficulties would help spice up the gameplay for players looking to challenge themselves or have an easier time. While Black Ops 6 does have something similar with the Rampage Inducer and Directed Mode, it’s not quite the same as the three difficulty choices.

The three different difficulties of Survivor, Hunter, and Exterminator in Black Ops 3 would have featured configurations of zombie numbers, health, spawns, time between waves, and the cost of items. The functionality of this could be brought back for further challenges, and even incentivize players to go for higher difficulties for more XP.

Variants of Standard Zombies

Cut Enemy Types Would Add Further Dangers

While Black Ops 6 has Elite and Special zombie variants featured with the dangerous likes of Amalgams and Manglers, there were early concepts for alternative zombie types that weren’t just re-skins of the base model, and instead would actually have different functions, much like the napalm zombie and the banshee of Shangri-La.

Most Polarizing COD Zombies Maps

The Call of Duty Zombies community is often butting heads about which maps deserve to be ranked first or last in their tier list.

While these zombies never left the concept art stage, there was the concept for a Zombie Oxen, a Thuat Zombie, and a Smoke Screen Zombie, with their gameplay elements listed below:

Special Zombie

Description

Smoke Screen Zombie

An orange-type smokescreen to obstruct players’ field of view.

Thuat Zombie

A martial arts master who can chop and attack players at blinding speeds with unique attack techniques.

Zombie Oxen

Massive muscle growth to provide (potentially) a tank-like four-legged zombie battle, like stronger Hell Hounds.

2

Cut Perk-a-Colas

A Multitude of Cut and Quirky Perks to Consume

modern warfare 3 jugger-nog perk-a-cola

Everyone knows the basic Perks that everyone should be using like Jugger-Nog, Double Tap, and Quick Revive, but not many know about the Perk-a-Colas that never reached the final stages and have since been abandoned, like PhD Flopper across the life cycle of Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 3. While not every Perk has been found, there are some worth noting:

Perk

Description

Bottomless Mug

When player ammo reaches zero, Bottomless Mug will slowly give ammo with 5 bullets every 5 seconds until the clip size is restored.

Dead Repellent

Drops potential Zombie Blood Power-Ups at a random chance for 50% of zombies to ignore the player.

Mutacola

Gives players the ability to transform into a mutant beast when downed (like the Beast Mode in Shadows of Evil) so players have a second chance.

While there are more Perk-a-Colas out there, this is just a taste of the potential for Zombies players, and how it would be nice to get something new instead of the return of Death Perception.

Cut Remasters of Classic Zombies Maps

Maps Like TranZit, Mob of the Dead, and Buried Were Planned

While it’s nice to hear of cut Perks, weapons, and modes, the most important factor of COD Zombies is the maps that they feature in. There have been so many cut maps and sections across COD Zombies, but what might break the hearts of the most nostalgic of fans, is the fact that so many famous maps were supposed to be remastered.

For Black Ops 3 as a part of Zombies Chronicles, Mob of the Dead and TranZit were supposed to feature, and even in Black Ops 2, maps like Five were supposed to return. While some maps received remakes in Black Ops 4, other rumored maps like Buried continue to await remasters that definitely deserve to come back someday.
