While appearing on xQc’s live Twitch stream, Smith answered fan questions, and when asked about a follow-up to his 2008 superhero film, he couldn’t help but drop a tantalizing clue.

Directed by Peter Berg, Hancock starred Smith as a cynical, alcoholic superhero struggling to repair his tarnished public image. The film also featured Jason Bateman as a PR executive determined to help Hancock rebrand himself, while Charlize Theron played Bateman’s wife, who harbored a mysterious connection to Hancock’s past. Will Smith Zombie Survival Game Has Reportedly Flopped

Tencent’s zombie survival shooting game Undawn, which was hyped by Will Smith’s involvement, is reported to have “flopped spectacularly.”

With speculation swirling about a potential Hancock sequel, Will Smith is adding fuel to the fire following his latest appearance on xQc’s live Twitch stream. “They be leaking all my information,” Smith joked before adding, “There’s a really cool, really cool Hancock 2 idea. We haven’t even talked about it, so I’m going to give you one little piece… Zendaya will be being approached for Hancock 2, for a role in Hancock 2.” This marks the latest hint that a Hancock sequel could finally be moving forward.

Will Smith Hints at Hancock 2

Back in 2012, director Peter Berg confirmed that he and producers Michael Mann and Akiva Goldsman were interested in making a second film. “We’ve been talking about the sequel between us, Will Smith, [producers] Michael Mann and Akiva Goldman and myself,” Berg told Entertainment Tonight at the time. “We’re all interested, but we literally just have trouble getting into the same room at the same time. We did have a series of meetings last year and started to hash out an idea for a sequel, and Will Smith actually had the idea, so I think it will happen, it’s just a question of timing.”

Charlize Theron, who played the powerful Mary Embrey in Hancock, has also expressed her willingness to return for a sequel. “You know, for a while we [talked about a sequel],” Theron told ComicBook.com. “I think closer to when the movie came out, but not in recent years, no. We’ll be superheroes with our walkers, you know. And I’ll still go.” If Hancock 2 moves forward, it wouldn’t be the only sequel in Smith’s pipeline. In 2024, he returned to his Bad Boys franchise with Bad Boys: Ride or Die, and he’s also set to star in an upcoming sequel to I Am Legend alongside Michael B. Jordan.

The I Am Legend sequel, which was officially announced in March 2022, will be penned by Akiva Goldsman for Warner Bros. The challenge, however, lies in how the film will bring back Smith’s character, Dr. Robert Neville, who died at the end of the original 2007 movie. Speaking on the sequel, Smith teased Jordan’s involvement, saying, “There’s a scope of understanding that Michael B. Jordan has that everybody doesn’t have. He’s a rare one.”
