Season 2 of Solo Leveling slowly heads towards Jeju Island Arc, but before Jinwoo can take on Beru, the Ant King, he has to conquer all floors of the Demon Castle. After getting his S-Rank license, Jinwoo decides to head back to the Demon Castle and collect the last fragment of Holy Water of Life.
We’ve seen Jinwoo fighting several enemies during his venture at the Demon Castle, but surprisingly, our protagonist makes one friend during his journey. The friend we are talking about is Esil Radiru, who is the eldest princess of the Radiru clan. Esil is surely an interesting character who, while acting as a crucial ally for Jinwoo, provides some comedic relief. She doesn’t stay in the spotlight for very long in the story, but she does leave a long-lasting impact on fans.

Esil Was Sent By Her Father To Kill Jinwoo In The Demon Castle Arc
Jinwoo Easily Kills All Of Esil’s Allies
Sung Jinwoo first met Esil when she, along with her group, tried to kill him on the 80th floor of Demon Castle. Esil and other Demons were wearing armor when they attacked Jinwoo, so the Hunter couldn’t see what those enemies looked like. However, when Jinwoo was about to land a killing blow on Esil, her armor came off. Jinwoo was taken by surprise by Esil’s innocent, human-like appearance, so he decided to spare her life. Esil also beseeched Jinwoo to let her live, proving that she wasn’t some demon blinded by rage; she could feel fear and accept the fact that her opponent was just too powerful.
However, the fact that she begs for mercy from the guy who killed her allies kind of makes her a coward as well. Esil also comes off as a selfish character as she looks for every opportunity to kill Jinwoo even though he spares her life. However, Jinwoo doesn’t mind Esil’s small acts of betrayal because he knows that, despite being an S-Level threat, she isn’t strong enough to kill him.
I’ve been curious for a while now. Do magic beasts feel fear? – Sung Jinwoo
Jinwoo annihilated every enemy thrown at him in the Demon Castle, but he was struggling to find the permit to enter the 80th floor. So, Esil offers to help Jinwoo get to the 80th floor in exchange for sparing her life. After that, Esil accompanies Jinwoo for the rest of his journey in the Demon Castle. After some time, she gives away all hope of killing Jinwoo as she sees him obliterating enemies on every floor with ease. Instead of hating Jinwoo for holding this much strength, Esil starts to admire and, in fact, like the Hunter.
Esil Shifts Her Loyalty Toward Jinwoo On The 100th Floor
She Betrays Baran To Help Jinwoo Survive
Esil acts as a guide for Jinwoo after the 80th floor of the Demon Castle, and while on the way, Jinwoo asks the demon princess if she is really from the Demon Castle. Surprisingly, like every other monster we see in any dungeon, Esil reveals that she and her entire clan woke up in this castle after being abducted. The Radiru clan is originally from a demon realm, and they don’t know why or how they ended up in the Demon Castle. However, like Baruka and Kargalgan, Esil also reveals that they have been hearing one voice ever since they arrived in the Castle.
As expected, this strange and mysterious voice has been telling them to kill humans. However, before Esil could tell more, she glitches out. We also saw this happening with Baruka in Red Gate Arc, but the consequences of revealing the truth were more severe for Esil as she also lost consciousness. After that, almost every enemy in the Demon Castle gathers to kill Esil, and, as expected, Jinwoo kills them all.
Just like with Jin-Ho, am I somehow compatible with people who have clumsy personalities or something? – Jinwoo
Even after surrendering, Esil was always looking for an opening to kill Jinwoo, but she then saw that same man laying countless bodies to protect her. Jinwoo’s selfless act sparks a sense of loyalty within Esil, and she proves that when Jinwoo gets on the 100th floor to fight Baran.
Before stepping on the 100th floor, Jinwoo asks Esil to leave, but the demon princess decides to accompany Jinwoo until the end. Baran was the final boss of Demon Castle, and Esil and the Radiru clan’s leader. On top of that, Baran was stronger than Jinwoo and had the upper hand during the fight.
