There are five archetypes to choose from, each of which focuses on a particular area of the golf game, boosting your player’s stats in those areas. Do you want to drive the ball further from the tee? Would you rather have more control around the greens? Or do you want to have laser accuracy with putting? Which archetype you choose will affect that.
All MyPlayer Archetypes
Each of the five archetypes in PGA Tour 2K25 offer different stat boosts and have different weaknesses. Those five archetypes are:
Archetype |
Strengths & Weaknesses |
---|---|
Magician |
The Magician archetype ensures you can hit well from poor lies or from the rough. It also means the game is more forgiving with hook and slice shots, and is more forgiving between your backswing and downswing. The Magician Skill is Recovery, and is unlocked at 85 overall rating. |
Powerhouse |
As Powerhouse, you can drive from the tee further, and the game is more forgiving in swing power percentage at the end of your swing. The Powerhouse Skill is Power Drive in the Tee Skill Tree. |
Sculptor |
As Sculptor, your bend or spin on shots is affected less by your swing quality. You can shape shots more easily, your natural draw or fade impact is lower, and you have increased power. The Sculptor Skill is Knockdown and is in the Approach skill tree. |
Technician |
As Technician, it is easier to get good swing quality, and the game is more forgiving on poor swing path. The exclusice skill is Pick in the Bunker Tree. |
Greenskeeper |
Finally, a Greenskeeper is Good on the green in every aspect, but they have lower power and the ability to shape shots. Their Skill is Green Reader in the Green skill tree. |
When you unlock an Archetype Skill, you also unlock it for all other archetypes.
Which Archetype Is Best
As for which you should choose, it depends on what you struggle most with when playing. You should jump into a quick match and test out the PGA Tour 2K25 gameplay, to see what you find difficult.
The Powerhouse archetype is always good, as everyone wants to hit the ball hard and far. Also, Technician is useful early on in the game when stats are low and you need some help hitting the ball straight. Once you’re levelled up, the archetype’s boost is less impactful.
Since putting is relatively easy, and you get used to reading the greens quickly, the Greenskeeper archetype isn’t one worth choosing.
