It’s easy to get wrapped up in the main story and substories while sailing through Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza In Hawaii, some aspects are about the journey, not the destination. Making time for Bond Chats with your crew will deepen their bonds with you and strengthen their combat efficiency, making this designated chatting time well worth it, even if the topics get a little out there for you.

Adding naval combat into Like a Dragon is a bold move that pays off incredibly well.
Bond Chats, more than anything, give you a chance to get to know your crew while having an expected mix of stand-up bits and heart-to-hearts. Masaru Fujita, the Goromaru’s charming chef, offers plenty of levity on the menu during his Bond Chats; here’s where to find them.
Where To Find Masaru Fujita’s Bond Chats
Before you can gain access to all of Masaru’s Bond Chats, you’ll need to get the Goromaru up to proper standards and seaworthy via some of Julie’s Gearworks repairs in Honolulu.
Your first trek through the Waters Near Rich Island is fairly linear, as you’ll be blocked from accessing lighthouses to the east and west sides of the map, but don’t worry, as those areas will open up soon enough.
You can check the description and a list of the chats you’ve already had with Masaru via the Bonds tab in the Goro Pirates menu.
Once you make some progress in Chapter Two, each of Masaru’s chats will be available.
Masaru’s five Bond Chats are:
- A Beefy Chef
- Fried Seagull
- Evolution
- Crime and Punishment
- Rare Delicacies
Once you complete all five of these chats, Masaru will invite you to his Drink Links, which will give you the chance to share a drink with your chef and deepen your bond.

Despite its placement as the fourth chat on Masaru’s list, “Crime and Punishment” will likely be the first Masaru chat you have and is found immediately at the South Rich Lighthouse in the Waters Near Rich Island.
With Masaru’s Bond Chats completed, you can switch gears and head below deck to the crew quarters where Masaru will be waiting for you behind the bar to engage in his Drink Links.
