As a demon, Kaigaku’s body adapted to enhance his combat style and his Thunder Breathing also became more lethal. Because he was now a demon, he also got trademark abilities such as regeneration and enhanced durability, making him a powerful force to deal with. His Thunder Breathing style now infused his Blood Demon Art gave off dark lightning, allowing him to unleash attacks even more powerful than his original Thunder Breathing form. Even stronger members of the Demon Slayer corps members would find it difficult to keep up with Kaigaku’s speed and power along with his electrified demonic attacks.

In order to get even stronger, Kaigaku devoured a lot of humans, this along with Muzan’s blood, gave him the edge he needed to become stronger. As the former protégé of Jigoro, Kaigaku possessed exceptional swordsmanship with amazing skills in Thunder Breathing. Because of his Blood Demon Art, Kaigaku’s swordsmanship was enhanced even further, making him even more dangerous. Because of his adaptation to Blood Demon Art, Kaigaku even stated that he was able to surpass Thunder Breathing because of his ability to manipulate actual lighting and electricity. No matter how skilled Kaigaku became, he was unable to learn the first and most fundamental form of Thunder Breathing – Thunderclap and Flash. Even though he could execute all five other techniques of Thunder Breathing, he lacked the most important one. His rival, Zenitsu was able to only learn the first form and master it to perfection. It is speculated that this is what led to Kaigaku’s downfall. Zenitsu was able to use a variation of the Thunder Breathing – First Form to his advantage to take down Kaigaku.

Kaigaku’s Blood Demon Art was known as Electrokinesis, which complemented his Thunder Breathing, giving him the ability to use special electrokinetic abilities to generate and manipulate black colored lightning from his flesh and blood. This type of Blood Demon Art is extremely lethal as he is able to create a special effect which cracks into an opponent’s flesh and causes heavy burns. Similar to the demon who transformed Kaigaku (Kokushibo), Kaigaku also possessed a flesh katana, which was his original katana from when he was a demon slayer. His flesh blade allows him to execute attacks using his Blood Demon Art as he is able to channel electricity through his blood when unleashing an attack.

Demon Slayer: Why Was Muzan Afraid Of The Sun Breathing Technique?

Muzan isn’t afraid of much, but something about Sun Breathing makes his skin crawl. What’s so special about it?

The Thunder Breathing Forms that Kaigaku could execute were the Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Form, with each form being as powerful as the next. In the end, during the Infinity Castle Arc, Zenitsu was able to overpower Kaigaku by executing a powerful Thunder Breathing form created to defeat Kaigaku, leaving him as the sole user of Thunder Breathing. Unlike other Upper Moons who had years of experience as a demon, Kaigaku was a demon for a short period of time, and he did not have enough time to fully master his unique Blood Demon Art. If Zenitsu had waited longer and until Kaigaku had become more powerful, there could have been a chance that Kaigaku could have defeated Zenitsu.
