Ghost of Tsushima was incredible. Sucker Punch’s epic action-adventure title won the hearts of both players and critics alike, amassing dozens upon dozens of award nominations across various outlets following its July 2020 release. With its sequel, Ghost of Yōtei, not too far off, it’s time to experience Jin Sakai’s adventure for yourself, if you’ve yet to do so. A new discount means there’s no better time to try out the game, as the PlayStation Store has a Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut sale that sees the game listed at $40 off.
Because Sony is selling the Director’s Cut at a discount, you’ll get substantially more content than what’s included in the base game. First and foremost, the upgraded Director’s Cut package features the Ghost of Tsushima Iki Island expansion. This DLC contains a new story chapter, numerous fresh side quests, a pair of Mythic Tales to experience, and a plethora of hidden collectibles to track down across the gorgeous Iki Island locale.

In addition to the Iki Island DLC, the Director’s Cut also comes with the previously released Legends cooperative mode. A digital miniature art book and director’s commentary option are also included within the package. In-game, you’ll also start off with a bonus technique point, Charm of Hachiman’s Favor, and the Hero of Tsushima skin set.
The PlayStation Store only offers the Digital Edition of Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut. If you prefer a physical copy, see Amazon’s sale instead.
It’s worth noting that there are two different versions of the Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut available for purchase. The PlayStation 4 version of the package, typically retailing at $60, is currently 67% off and selling for a mere $20. The PlayStation 5 version is 58% off and down to $30. This iteration makes the game playable on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5,while incorporating performance enhancements the latter console affords.
Save Even More With PlayStation Plus
If you’re a member of PlayStation Plus Extra, there’s no need to purchase the Director’s Cut through the PlayStation Store at all. Subscribers of the service can download and play either the PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5 version of the souped-up edition free of charge. It may even be worth it to consider purchasing a short-term plan just to experience the title at some point before Ghost of Yōtei’s release. A one-month subscription to PlayStation Plus Extra can typically be purchased for right around $15.
Ghost of Tsushima‘s upcoming sequel, Ghost of Yōtei, will feature a new female protagonist named Atsu who now dons “The Ghost” persona. The developers have stated that the project explores themes of “underdog vengeance” while exploring the brand-new location of Hokkaido, Japan.
There’s no chance of Yōtei’s Atsu crossing paths with Tsushima’s Jin Sakai though, as the sequel is confirmed to be set 300 years after the first game. There are sure to still be narrative connections between the two though. So cut back any hesitation you may have about playing through Sucker Punch’s awesome samurai story, and nab this deal through the PlayStation Store before it ends on March 6.
