How a Pokemon Concierge Game Adaptation Could Work

Pokemon Concierge’s risks and deviation from the series’ tradition would make it work well as a much-needed video game adaptation.

Pokemon Concierge is launching on YouTube starting on February 21. The Pokemon Company announced that the praised Pokemon series will be releasing sequentially, but it will only be available on YouTube for a very limited time, with The Pokemon Company noting that the event will run until March 9. While this is a very short period of time to catch the show, it shouldn’t pose too much of an issue for Pokemon fans to enjoy everything it has to offer, as Pokemon Concierge has only released four episodes thus far at roughly 15 minutes each.

Should Pokemon Fans Watch Pokemon Concierge?

Pokemon Concierge has received critical acclaim and a great deal of high praise from Pokemon fans. The series is quite different than most Pokemon media, with no battles between Pokemon and a stop-motion animation style that looks quite distinct when compared to the games or the TV anime. These two elements make up the bulk of the show’s appeal, with the plot revolving around a woman named Haru who finds herself working on a Pokemon resort island after visiting it to try and get over how burned out she is. The series features a variety of Pokemon, with Psyduck being a major highlight of the show.

Pokemon fans who find that they enjoy Pokemon Concierge will be happy to know that the show is slated to get more episodes. Following the success of the first four episodes, Netflix ordered a new season of the series in February 2024. It’s possible that Pokemon Presents will reveal when the new season will premiere, but as a stop-motion show, it takes a considerable amount of time to produce. Animators were able to average about five seconds worth of an episode per day that the show was worked on, so even with its short length, it could take a bit before it is ready for audiences. The first four episodes releasing on YouTube may be part of an effort to encourage fans to subscribe to Netflix for season two.
