Summary

  • Marvel Studios is considering a second season of Hawkeye to further develop Clint Barton and Kate Bishop’s story.
  • Fans praised the show for its quality, chemistry among the cast, and unique fight scenes.
  • Hawkeye’s return to the MCU is expected regardless of a second season, but Marvel aims to create long-term content.

Hawkeye was released on Disney Plus in 2021, but the show is still talked about today. Given the importance of Jeremy Renner’s character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, fans have hoped that his show would be given a second season to continue developing him and his on-screen connection with Kate Bishop.

Until now, there hasn’t been much information about Hawkeye’s future or whether or not Marvel Studios intends to provide another season of the show. However, that has changed as there has been a positive update about Hawkeye and the possibility of a second season being brought to fans in a bid to continue that individual story where Clint Barton finally gets to be the focal point.

RUMOR: Avengers: Doomsday Filming Delayed For What May Be A Troubling Reason

Avengers: Doomsday filming is set to be delayed, due to a troubling situation.

Marvel’s head of streaming television and animation, Brad Winderbaum, has recently spoken to Entertainment Weekly about the show and whether another season is coming. He said, “Hawkeye is another one that feels like you can make a second season of that show because it’s Christmas, because it’s Clint and Kate. You can kind of revisit it whenever, and we’re looking for opportunities to do that. But as we develop things for the future, I think they’re going to be designed to be multiple seasons, have more of a pattern, and be able to be released annually.” It’s clear from Winderbaum’s comments that Marvel wants to create more long-term content with its television shows, which will only benefit the MCU, and starting that process with Hawkeye would be a popular choice.

Hawkeye was a hit with Marvel fans by gaining an 88% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, while critics scored it even higher at 92%. That’s because the show brought a lot of quality, and the festive theming helped to make it feel unique and charming at the same time. The cast had excellent on-screen chemistry, and the fight scenes were unlike any other MCU project due to the skills of the characters involved. The first season was set around Christmas, and Marvel could continue that or choose another time of year, such as Halloween, to keep the themed aspect of the show for comedic gags.

The character of Hawkeye is one that is expected to return to the MCU regardless of whether Marvel Studios creates a second season of the show. The same can be said for Kate Bishop, who is someone who was heavily focused on during Hawkeye and has the potential of taking the reins from Barton within the MCU in the future if Renner ever wants to retire from the role. There have been calls from Marvel fans for Hawkeye to become a movie rather than carry on as a show, but giving it a second season would allow more detail to be placed into the character without rushing the process.

Hawkeye isn’t the only show Marvel Studios is considering delivering a second season to. Widerbaum also teased Agatha All Along getting another season and continuing. It’s another positive sign for Marvel’s television shows, which have often been overlooked and neglected in terms of long-term storytelling. Plus, it’s a great decision for anyone who enjoyed the initial season of Hawkeye.
