The recent launch of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is shaping up to be a real success for Warhorse Studios. with the long wait since the release of its predecessor having been worth it in the eyes of many fans. Crucially, the title has maintained a lot of the immersive game mechanics that made the first game so successful, expanding its winning formula and applying it to a much larger experience.
A great example of the way that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is evolving the best aspects of its predecessor lies in the title’s exploration, with fans having a huge game world to uncover that is filled with a wide range of beautiful landscapes, settlements, off-the-cuff interactions, and secrets to uncover. The vast world of KCD2 is also full of some really rewarding and intriguing Easter eggs, rivaling other secret-filled open-world franchises like Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Pays Great Attention to Easter Eggs
Very high expectations surrounded Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 due to the seven-year wait fans had to endure since the launch of its predecessor, with Warhorse Studios making sure the title is a big step-up in more ways than one. Many of the clunkier core mechanics of the first KCD, such as its combat, have been refined in KCD2, with things like NPC interactions, available skills, personal choice, and reputation systems also getting excellent overhauls.
The unique setting of Medieval Bohemia is one of the biggest draws of Kingdom Come‘s experience, with KCD2 smartly expanding the game world of the first game into brand-new and vastly detailed regions. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 splits its game world into two regions, Trosky and Kuttenberg, and Warhorse has not shied away from filling these lands with outlandish and intriguing Easter eggs for players to uncover.
The combined size of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2‘s playable regions is about 12 square miles, roughly double the size of the first KCD‘s map.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is Not Afraid To Break the Mold With its Easter Eggs
KCD2 does well to make nods towards other media giants with Medieval motifs, with references to things like Elden Ring‘s viral “Let Me Solo Her” player, as well as a slew of Easter eggs relating to Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Several references to Harry Potter can also be found throughout KCD2, with Skyrim‘s infamous “arrow in the knee” meme even getting a late revival within the project.
While these franchises centered around historical fantasy seem to be predictable Easter egg choices for the otherwise fairly grounded medieval world of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, the title is unafraid to go further a field with its secrets, with a crashed UFO even being found within KCD2. This kind of bold and genre-bending Easter egg is right in line with other titles renowned for their layered open worlds, such as Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption, with both GTA 5 and RDR2 featuring extensive alien Easter eggs of their own.
The inclusion of these varied and surreal Easter eggs is a great way to expand the gameplay experience of a title beyond the confines of its premise without stepping on the toes of its immersion or main story, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has used the same Easter egg approach as past Rockstar titles to the same level of great success. Not only do the Easter eggs of KCD2 range from being subtle to massively eccentric, but they appear throughout the game at such a high frequency that the player is always looking forward to their next discovery, placing the title in the same ranks as some of the most iconic open-world games in terms of how enjoyable its exploration feels.
