Facing Hellifish can be annoying at first since you can get caught off guard by the dark mist that fills the room and the fidget-spinner jellyfish. But it’s actually one of the easiest fights in Hades 2. In this guide, you’ll learn about Hellifish’s attacks and tips to taking down this jiggly sea beast.

Hades 2 is in Early Access. The information in this guide may change over time.

Hellifish Location

Information about Hellifish in Hades 2 bestiary.

You can find Hellifish in Oceanus, on your way to the Underworld. It’s one of the optional minibosses. There’s no specific requirement to encounter it. You just need to go through the doors with the skull symbol on them. If you spot a giant, brainy octopus-jellyfish floating among a swarm of smaller jellyfish, that’s your target.

At the moment, other than Hellifish, there are two other minibosses in Oceanus that you may encounter if you choose a skull-marked door: Deep Serpens and King Vermin.

Hellifish’s Abilities

Like other minibosses in Hades 2, Hellifish comes with armor. It has only one phase and two main abilities. Here’s a breakdown of its moves and how to counter them:

Ability

Description

How To Counter

Upside-Down Fidget Spinning

Hellifish flips upside down, spinning its tentacles while moving around the room.

Its movement speed is slow, and its range is short. So you just need to sprint or dash out of the way to avoid being hit.

Black Mist Projectile

Hellifish shoots a tracking projectile. If it hits you, it releases dark mist that heavily reduces your vision.

Wait until the projectile comes close to you then dash to dodge it. If hit, stay calm and watch out for the spinning Hellifish.

Since Hellifish has limited abilities, its attack pattern isn’t difficult. It often starts with spinning, then jumps up and lands slowly before spitting out the projectile. Sometimes, it will spin and spit the projectile without jumping.

How To Defeat Hellifish

The real challenge of this room comes from the smaller jellyfish; at first, they’re dormant, but if you get too close, they will start spinning after a short delay. So to make this fight easier, clear the small jellyfish first. Moon Boons like Total Eclipse or Lunar Ray are great for quickly wiping out enemies in this room. If you have Zeus’s boon Heaven Strike or Hephaestus’s Volcanic Strike, this fight will also be a breeze thanks to their spreading damage.

You don’t want to move around too much while clearing the room to avoid causing the whole room to spin at you, like in the video. If you get hit by Hellifish’s projectile during this, it’ll be a tough situation since your vision will be limited, making dodging their attacks a lot harder. If you’ve already triggered them into spinning, just dash through their range to avoid taking damage.

Once you clear out the small jellyfish, you’ll have more space to dodge Hellifish’s attacks and focus on dealinwith g damage. If you’ve picked up boons that boost damage against armor, you can shred through it in no time. After that, Hellifish’s remaining HP won’t be an issue. Defeat it, and it’s time to join Scylla And The Sirens’ concert!
