How To Create A Nuclear Weapon In Civ 7

Nukes are the single most destructive weapon that humanity has access to in the modern age, and the same has held true within the games of the Civilization franchise. As with the last games within the franchise, players can only unlock these weapons of mass destruction near the end of the modern age, though Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 handles their implementation quite differently, leading to a lot of confusion within the player base.

This guide will show gamers the requirements that they need to meet if they’d like to build the Pyramids in Civ 7.

Firstly, it’s important to know that Nukes aren’t really a way to gain the edge in a modern age war in the latest Civ game. This is because it can only be unlocked once players have completed the Military Legacy path. Players can choose between finishing the game by completing Project Ivy or making a nuke. However, the production cost for both of these is very similar, making it a redundant choice. Data miners have revealed the existence of a supposed Atomic Age, so perhaps the nukes will become more relevant later on down the line in the update cycle.

How To Make Nukes In Civ 7

Nukes are powerful weapons that players can deploy at the very end of their playthrough. At the moment, they mostly serve as a way to feel and look cool but don’t really serve a function, since they’re unlocked alongside Project Ivy, which is the military win condition. They can be used to go for a Domination Victory within the game by taking over every other empire. There are three main steps to creating Nukes within Civ 7:

  • Complete the Military Legacy Path in the Modern Age to unlock the Manhattan Project world wonder.
  • Build the Manhattan Project world wonder in one of your cities to gain access to Nukes and Project Ivy.
  • If you want to make more Nukes, you can complete the project “Produce Nuclear Weapon.”

How To Use Nukes In Civilization 7

After you’ve unlocked and even built a few Nukes, you might be surprised to find yourself with a distinct lack of any thermonuclear weapons on the ground. That’s because Nukes can only be launched from a specific building.

  • Unlock the Aerodynamics Tech Tree to gain access to Aerodromes and bomber planes, two requirements for launching Nukes.
  • After unlocking them, build Aerodromes in the cities which are closest to enemy cities, and recruit a bomber plane.
  • Produce nuclear weapons using the associated project, and you’ll find that you can launch WMDs by clicking on your Aerodrome Commander, a unit that spawns by itself when you place down an Aerodrome.

You can check how many Nukes you have by clicking the aerodrome commander and hovering over the WMD strike button. It will show the number of available warheads in your arsenal.
