How to Craft Neutral Items in Patch 7.38

How to Craft Neutral Items in Patch 7.38

After more than six months, Dota 2 finally received a new major update. Dubbed Wandering Waters, Patch 7.38 added a bunch of new elements to the game. While map changes and roshan repositionings aren’t exactly new for fans of the beloved MOBA, this is the first time players have seen a crafting system used in the game.

Dota 2 Patch 7.38 completely changed how Neutral Items work in the game. Prior to the update, players simply had to clear jungle camps at specific timings for a chance to acquire one of five total Neutral Items that could drop for each team. The items had a specific set of stats and effects, and there was no way to change how it worked. But the new system gives you a lot more control over the items you use.

How to Craft Neutral Items in Dota 2

In Patch 7.38, the Neutral Items are broken down into two base components called Artifacts and Enchantments. Artifacts are the ability components of the item and can be either active or passive. Enchantments, on the other hand, serve as passive attributes or stat upgrades.

To craft Neutral Items in Dota 2, players must first gather a special type of resource called Madstones. You earn Madstones by clearing jungle camps. Each jungle camp cleared rewards 2 Madstones to the hero that farmed it and 1 to a random ally on the team. Once you gather a certain number of Maidstone, you’ll get the option to craft an Artifact and add an Enchantment to it.

Players can choose one of four different Artifacts and Enchantments when crafting the Neutral Item.

There’s a limit to how many Madstones players can carry at a specific point in time. When the game starts, players can’t collect any Madstone for clearing a jungle camp. At the 5-minute mark, the first tier of Neutral Item is unlocked, and players can collect a total of 5 Madstones. This is also the number of Madstones you need to craft your first set of Artifact and Enchantment.

At 15 minutes, the Madstone Cap is increased to 15 and players must collect an additional 10 Madstone to craft the next tier of Neutral Items. The following tier unlocks at the 25-minute mark, increasing the Cap to 25. After that, you can craft another new tier of Neutral Item by collecting another 10 Madstone at minute 35.

The final tier of Neutral Items unlocks at 60 minutes, requiring 10 more Madstone. But there’s more to it than that. After 70 minutes, the Madstones cap is removed and players can collect as many Madstones as they want to craft new Neutral Items.

The cost of crafting increases by 10 for each new Neutral Item you craft after 70 minutes.

The new Neutral Item crafting system in Dota 2 Patch 7.38 will certainly affect how players approach the game. It adds an extra layer of strategy to an already complex game, allowing you to fine-tune your items to fit the matchup.
