Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Now Has Cloud's Kingdom Hearts Gear Thanks To Fans

Summary

  • Cloud’s outfit from Kingdom Hearts has been added to Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth via a mod.
  • The mod builds on another that lets you have Cloud in his Loveless outfit throughout the game.
  • Perhaps the closest we’ll get to seeing KH Cloud look this good with no word yet on if he will be in Kingdom Hearts 4.

Aside from the chance for a whole new audience to play a game via its arrival on another platform, the best thing about console exclusives coming to PC is the ability for talented modders to get their hands on them. That naturally happened almost immediately once Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth arrived on PC, and less than a month later, dedicated fans have created a mod that lets your Rebirth Cloud look like he’s been ripped right out of Kingdom Hearts.

Cloud has been a part of Kingdom Hearts since its inception. However, the Final Fantasy 7 protagonist looks a little different in the Disney series than he does in his own. Although his appearance is more or less the same, he has a red cloak that often covers the lower part of his face, and his iconic Buster Sword is wrapped in bandages.

The Cloud Kingdom Hearts outfit, created by ColossalCake and available now through Nexus Mods, takes both of those things, and other subtle changes to Cloud’s gear and appearance unique to Kingdom Hearts, and puts them in Rebirth. The good news for the mod’s creator is Cloud’s Loveless outfit in Rebirth was already part of the way there. The bad news is the Loveless outfit isn’t one that can be freely worn throughout the game.

Wing On His Back And All

Mild spoilers for Rebirth if you’ve not yet finished the game’s story – Loveless is a play in the story where the main characters assume the roles of the actors. The character you choose as your date for the evening dictates how the next stages of the game unfold. Cloud is wearing an outfit during Loveless that is somewhat similar to his gear in Kingdom Hearts, except the cloak is blue instead of red.

There’s a mod that lets you wear Cloud’s Loveless outfit throughout Rebirth, also available through Nexus Mods. That mod will need to be applied before you can then apply the Kingdom Hearts mod, altering the Loveless outfit to make it look more like the one Cloud wears while battling alongside Sora.

Final Fantasy characters weren’t a part of the base game in Kingdom Hearts 3. However, they were added via its DLC which might mean there’s hope Sora reunites with Cloud and co. in Kingdom Hearts 4. As for when we’ll find out more about that, or anything about the continuation of the series, that remains a mystery. It’s been almost three years since its reveal with very little in the way of additional information offered up since.
