Summary

  • A new Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth mod lets players wear Cloud’s iconic outfit from Kingdom Hearts.
  • The Cloud Kingdom Hearts Outfit mod also has two variants that come with and without the black wing.

A new Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth mod for the PC version of the game gives players a way to change Cloud’s outfit into the one worn for his debut in Kingdom Hearts, which includes a red cape, a black wing, and a bandage-wrapped Buster Sword. The Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth mod is now available for PC users to download.

Cloud’s appearance in Kingdom Hearts was reminiscent of Vincent Valentine, and his iconic Buster Sword was wrapped in bandages from the hilt to the tip. Although other Final Fantasy franchise characters like Squall acted as mentors to Sora during his first quest as a Keyblade wielder, Cloud’s first cameo in the series was a slightly antagonistic one. While under the employ of Hades from Disney’s Hercules, Cloud was a boss in the Olympus Colosseum, in both the main story and optional encounters. In Kingdom Hearts 2, Cloud’s outfit was changed to his Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children attire.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Gets First PC Patch

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth gets its first PC update patch, which is largely centered around fixing some of the recently released port’s technical issues.

Nearly a month after Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth‘s strong launch on PC, a cosmetic mod that changes Cloud’s outfit has started to make the rounds. The Cloud Kingdom Hearts Outfit mod is now available on NexusMods for PC players to download and use as they wish. The mod was created and uploaded by a user named ColossalCake and requires a mod called “Loveless Outfits – Individual” by Ninjagrime to work correctly.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Mod Gives Cloud His Kingdom Hearts Outfit

ColossalCake said that the bandages around Cloud’s Buster Sword were adapted to the top of the blade, but also stated the sword’s position on Cloud’s back is completely vertical compared to the right-side tilt that it usually has in Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth. Ergo, in some cutscenes, Cloud will miss grabbing his sword. However, the Buster Sword will snap into Cloud’s grip during combat or at any point that it isn’t attached to his back.

The Cloud Kingdom Hearts Outfit mod also has two variants that come with and without the black wing. Additionally, ColossalCake stated that the meshes and textures for Cloud’s Kingdom Hearts outfit were taken from the spin-off game Dissidia Final Fantasy NT. In the 2018 3D fighter, Cloud’s Kingdom Hearts outfit was his second alternate costume, dubbed the Sky-Soarer outfit.

Although Final Fantasy characters have taken a backseat in later Kingdom Hearts titles, fans have expressed hope that Square Enix will focus on them in Kingdom Hearts 4. Only time will tell if Cloud or other Final Fantasy heroes will appear in future Kingdom Hearts games.
