When the Sumeru update was announced in Genshin Impact, miHoYo also revealed the roadmap for the rest of the regions coming to Teyvat. Although information about the seven nations and their elements were revealed when the game was initially released, miHoYo has finally laid down a concrete timeline for the remaining nations.

Genshin Impact: 23 Hidden Locations You Missed In The Inazuma Region
The Inazuma region is full of secrets and surprises for players to discover. Here are some hidden locations you might’ve missed.
Currently, there are six nations playable in Genshin Impact: Mondstadt, Liyue, Inazuma, Sumeru, Fontaine, and Natlan. Developer miHoYo stated its goal is to have all seven regions released over the next few years, which likely means that one new region will be released per year with Snezhnaya coming in 2025. Although there are rumors and quest hints that regions outside of the seven major nations like Khaenri’ah will appear as well, they have yet to be officially confirmed.
Updated October February 20, 2025 by Michael Christopher: Another year has come and gone, so that means another region has to be removed from this post: Natlan! The nation of Pyro has been released and we’ve learned so much about it, its tribes, and the Abyssal invasion that once loomed overhead. Now, the last offical nation ruled by The Seven that we await is Snezhnaya. We’ve updated this post with more info about the Cryo nation, as well as the mysterious Nod-Krai. We’ve also removed Natlan, of course. For a summary of Natlan’s story, check out this post instead.
Warning: some spoilers ahead
Nod-Krai
Through the end of the Natlan Archon Quest, some event dialogue from a young girl named Helka, and comments from Liben, it seems that players will be heading to a mysterious region called Nod-Krai before Snezhnaya proper. The area was included in a list of upcoming content on an official livestream, and might potentially be the next region after Natlan.
It’s said to be its own autonomous region that’s technically part of Snezhnaya, but seems to have its own home-rule, specifically being governed by an entity known as the “Voynich Guild.” It is home to a Fatui stronghold, and Mavuika mentions that Il Dottore has been working on something there, but not much else is known about its connection to Snezhnaya, politically-speaking.
Here are a few other details given about Nod-Krai:
- It seems to be overrun with crime and danger (Liben) and the danger has been growing in recent times (Helka)
- The environment is described as “hostile” (Helka)
- The people of the region seem to be able to use some type of special power that predates the main seven elements of Teyvat (Mavuika)
- There is some moon diety who is worshipped, or was in the past, by a group called the “Frostmoon Scions.” This group lives in the forests and are avoided by the populace (Helka)
- Some types of large-scale developments were planned for the region that have seemingly been abandoned, and large amounts of scrap remain (Helka)
- The Fatui are apparently moving in a ton of construction supplies, perhaps as part of Dottore’s work in the area (Helka)
- There seems to be some type of Abyssal problem in the northern portion of the region (Helka)
- There was once an “ordered and prosperous” civilization in the area that seemingly no longer exists, but that one can “catch glimpses of from time to time” (Helka)
-
The region is home to a person named Katya that Helka references and quotes frequently in her dialogue
- Helka recommends players seek out Katya in the “Speranza” of Nashagrod for some help
- Apparently, she used to be a great adventurer before some injuries forced her to settle down and retire
- Katya warns Helka not to look into the Frostmoon Scions
- Some type of crab resides in the area that is different from Fontaine’s crustacean life (Helka)
At the time of writing, the game is in Version 5.4, meaning there’s still a while before the next region before Natlan. For now, we’ll just have to wait and see if players are headed to Nod-Krai for all of Version 6.x, or if it’s a smaller portion of the game’s timeline as part of the larger Snezhnayan arc.
Snezhnaya
Despite being the final region set to be released in Genshin Impact, there’s been a lot more revealed about Snezhnaya than some other regions, given it has been a key component of the main story.
Snezhnaya worships the Cryo Archon, The Tsaritsa, who is described by Dainsleif as a “God with no love left for her people.” The Fatui are a military force under the control of the Tsaritsa, and the Eleven Harbingers act as their executive officers. Snezhnaya is also technologically superior to the other regions, and the Fatui are the strongest military force in Teyvat.
Snezhnaya is described as a nation of constant winter storms, seems to be based politically or culturally on the Soviet Union, and Childe has said people can literally freeze to death if they don’t keep moving. It seems fitting that Snezhnaya is the final region to be released given the Fatui are one of the major antagonists in Genshin Impact. The original preview trailer hinted at the appearance of Harbinger Pulcinella, the person responsible for bringing Childe into the organization. A number of story characters the player has already met come from Snezhnaya as diplomats in the Fatui, including Scaramouche, Il Dottore, Tartaglia
, and La Signora, so it’s likely they will also play an important role in the story once players reach the region, potentially in 2025.
Just before the release of Sumeru, a new trailer dropped that showed off some of the currently unrevealed Harbingers. La Signora, one of the Harbingers, was killed in the Inazuma arc, so the other surviving members, save for Scaramouche (and maybe an unknown member at rank #10), gather for her funeral. This is the first look fans were given at many of the members, and small bits of information were revealed about their designs and personalities.
New information about the Harbingers suggests there might be one we don’t know about. We’ve known for years that there are Eleven Fatui Harbingers, but new info says that Pierro is the “founder” rather than a member, making him #0 rather than #1. The Natlan arc also confirmed that Il Capitano is the actual #1, leaving a hole where #10 should, given that we know the ranks of all other Harbingers. This mysterious person at #10 could be someone we haven’t met, or the position might be vacant. The known ranks are as follows:

Liyue Archon Quest |
As for the Tsaritsa, there is a bit of information about her from various sources, but we still don’t know much. She is not the original Cryo Archon, as Zhongli
and Venti
are the only original members of the Seven. However, she was the Cryo Archon by the time of the Cataclysm 500 years ago, as she was “greatly changed” by the events that took place. Since then, she’s been on a mission via the Harbingers to collect the Gnoses from the other six members of the Seven.
As of the moment, the Harbingers have secured five Gnoses: Venti’s, Zhongli’s, Raiden Shogun’s
, Nahida’s
, and the Hydro Gnosis. Added to the Tsaritsa’s own, this makes six Gnoses out of seven in the hands of the Harbingers/The Tsaritsa. The Pyro Gnosis, which Mavuika still holds, was not handed over or seized/stolen at the end of the Natlan Archon Quest like the others. Mavuika believes the Tsaritsa will send someone for it soon. Why the Cryo Archon is collecting the Gnoses is currently unknown.
The Tsaritsa has the power to grant Delusions to her followers, which act like Visions but slowly drain the life force of their users. It’s believed that all of the Harbingers carry a Delusion, and all elite Fatui enemies the player encounters theoretically carry one as well.
It’s unknown what the Tsaritsa’s ideal is, though many believe it is or was “love,” per subtle hints throughout the game’s story. In the Downtown section of the Liyue Archon Quest, Zhongli mentions something about each member of the Seven, but about the Tsaritsa, he seems to trail off and not mention much. This could imply her ideal has changed since her significant personality change following the Cataclysm.
Tartaglia says this about her:
Her Royal Highness the Tsaritsa is actually a gentle soul. Too gentle, in fact, and that’s why she had to harden herself. Likewise, she declared war against the whole world only because she dreams of peace. And because she made an enemy of the world, I had the chance to become acquainted with you.
Here’s what Dainsleif has to say about the Tsaritsa and her plan in the Teyvat Chapter Storyline Preview:
“She is a god with no love left for her people, nor do they have any left for her. Her followers hope only to be on her side when the day of her rebellion against the divine comes at last.”
Each of the elemental ascension gem descriptions are narrated by their respective Archon. For the Shivada Jade Gemstone, which is used by Cryo characters, the description is as follows:
Sorry… to also have you shoulder the grievances of the world.
Since you could endure my bitter cold, you must have the desire to burn?
Then, burn away the old world for me.
As for the region of Snezhnaya itself, here are some tidbits we’ve seen throughout the game:
- There are blizzards there that can last for a month straight, and even though there’s danger in this, the people look up to the sky and are happy to be alive (Nahida)
- There are massive factories in Snezhnaya (Alice) and the country is militarily superior to other nations (Venti)
- There is a festival called Krsnik Noc celebrated in Snezhnaya (Ivanovich)
- The Adventurers’ Guild originally hails from Snezhnaya, though it is much more trusted as an organization than the Fatui are (Lan)
- Zapolyarny Palace is an important location where the Tsaritsa reigns (Venti, during the Mondstadt Archon Quest)
Potential Other Regions
These regions are theorized to be playable areas in the future, but fans have received no absolute confirmation.
Khaenri’ah
The fallen nation of Khaenri’ah is one of the major parts of Genshin Impact’s lore. This former kingdom is where the twins arrived when they appeared in Teyvat. Around 500 years ago, an event referred to as “The Cataclysm” took place. During this time, Celestia and the Archons destroyed Khaenri’ah, transforming the people who lived there into monsters that now comprise much of the Abyss Order.
Dainsleif, the major story character, was from Khaenri’ah, as was Kaeya
. Dainsleif is roaming the continent after the fall of the kingdom, and he is extremely embittered toward the Seven and Celestia itself. Khaenri’ah has been stated as the connected location of the final story chapter, simply called Chapter ??: The Dream Yet To Be Dreamed, but the extent to which players will be able to traverse Khaenri’ah is unknown. However, it does appear that it will be one of the regions visited eventually — but probably not for a long time.
Celestia
The floating island of Celestia is shrouded in mystery and seems to be a major driving force behind the events of the game and many important characters’ motivations. It’s said to be the place where the divine reside — both the Seven Archons (to an extent) and the gods who are even higher than them in the heavenly hierarchy.
It seems that the Archons have a complicated relationship with Celestia, given Venti’s and Zhongli’s hesitance to discuss it and the fact that Raiden Ei has completely cut ties with it. Furthermore, Focalors, the Hydro Archon, constructed an elaborate plan over 500 years to outright betray Celestia and destroy the position of Hydro Archon entirely.
Celestia was behind the destruction of Khaenri’ah, and seemingly many other events in Teyvat’s history. The Gnoses that Archons use are apparently tied directly to Celestia, but five that players have met so far have given up or lost their Gnosis, and two of them (Ei and Zhongli) seem rather unconcerned about that. Venti also seems hesitant to talk about Celestia, and some of the only information he offers is that the water is foul and the fruit is bland.
Celestia is apparently ruled by some entity or concept known as the “Heavenly Principles.” This figure or concept is the main impetus behind almost all of Teyvat’s history, events, and structure. The main antagonists of the game, the Fatui and the Abyss Order, are working to oppose Celestia in some way. According to Nahida, the Heavenly Principles have been silent since the Cataclysm. Finally, the Unknown God that the Traveler and their sibling meet at the beginning of the game calls herself the “Sustainer of Heavenly Principles.”
Fan speculation suggests that Celestia is the location of the loading screen for Genshin Impact as well as the opening cutscene where the twins fight the Sustainer of Heavenly Principles. Celestia’s role in the story will clearly be flushed out much more over the coming years, but whether players can visit the floating isle remains unknown at this time.
