This article contains spoilers for Dragon Ball Daima Episode 19, which isn’t out yet on Crunchyroll or Hulu (at the time of writing).

Summary

  • Adult Vegeta surprises fans by transforming into Super Saiyan 3 in Dragon Ball Daima Episode 19.
  • Vegeta may potentially turn into Super Saiyan 4 in Episode 20 with the help of Neva’s magic.
  • The upcoming episode 20, scheduled for February 28, will be the series finale of Dragon Ball Daima.

Dragon Ball Daima is not letting Vegeta fans down, as the anime just showed adult Vegeta in a form that many were eagerly waiting for. While Dragon Ball Daima has not been to the liking of those who don’t enjoy DBGT, it is a good show that also reminds fans of the classic Dragon Ball anime.

Now, in its final episodes, the production team is showing that they know how to keep the audience engaged with great surprises. In the last episode, Goku broke the internet after turning into Super Saiyan 4 and making it an official transformation – those who consider GT not canon always argued that SSJ4 was not canon as it hasn’t been featured in Dragon Ball Super.

While the “canonization” of SSJ4 is a huge thing, there is also good news for Vegeta fans. After turning back into an adult, he transformed into Super Saiyan 3 once again, to the thrill of many. He did it for the first time in the franchise a few episodes ago, but as a kid.

Fans shared scenes of the episode on social media as it aired in Japan:

The show hasn’t yet explained how Goku was able to unlock SSJ4 – while they might end up not explaining it, Neva’s magic was apparently key for the transformation to happen. If it’s only about magic, Vegeta should be able to transform into Super Saiyan 4 if Neva also helps him with some magic. If it’s only about power, then it’s even more likely we will see Vegeta SSJ4 in the next episode.

In this scenario, not only Vegeta could turn into SSJ4, but, given that Gomah is a powerful enemy, there’s a chance that Gogeta SSJ4 will also make his canon appearance, a final nod to DBGT, which served as a starting point for the show.

The End of Dragon Ball Daima

Episode 20, which will air on February 28 if no sudden changes happen, will be the series finale. As far as we know, no sequel is planned for now.

Last year marked Dragon Ball‘s 40th anniversary, but producer Akio Iyuko has confirmed that Daima is not a commemorative anime project for the anniversary. This means that there is a good chance that another anime will soon be announced – many expect the anniversary project to be Dragon Ball Super Season 2, but it could be anything else, from a movie to another original anime series.

Dragon Ball Daima is available to stream on Crunchyroll and Hulu (simulcast). Netflix and other services also add new episodes, but a week before they air in Japan.
