Summary
- Episode Heresy is a well-received and successful expansion for Destiny 2.
- The Echo of Navigation and the Dreadnaught may play a crucial role in Destiny 2’s future developments.
- Guardians may get Oryx’s Echo of Navigation to travel away from Sol in Frontiers.
Despite some bugs and issues that came with Episode Heresy, it is arguably the most successful and well-received Episode of the bunch for Destiny 2. This is a good thing considering it will mark the shift to a new model when it passes on the torch to Frontiers, especially with how little is known about the expansion and the way Bungie intends to update the game in the future. Destiny 2‘s Heresy is also full of secrets, which is often one of the most praised elements of the game, and the fact they can be found in the Dreadnaught can be all the more nostalgic for veterans. As much as Heresy’s story is good, its ending may already be clear.
The story of Heresy is unfortunately marred by a non-insignificant issue, which is that two characters don’t have lines of dialogue recorded due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. Sloane and Xivu Arath both seem pivotal parts of Heresy, and they are big Destiny 2 characters in general, so it is sad that their roles are relegated to on-screen subtitles. Sloane is acting as the main NPC for the Episode after the events of the prologue, and Xivu Arath recently showed herself in the Kludge mission, which can be used to predict the ending of Heresy.

How Heresy’s Last Act 1 Mission “Spoils” Act 3’s Finale in Destiny 2
Kludge is the final mission for Heresy’s first act, and it sees the Guardian board the Dreadnaught to sabotage the ship’s systems. After players successfully hack the Byosystems, the HUD states that they can hear a familiar, regal voice in the Hall of Souls. Here, they are greeted by the Echo of Navigation, which is a projection of Oryx from before he was defeated on board his own ship, and the remaining Hive Gods – Xivu Arath and Savathun. Destiny 2‘s Oryx soon finds out he is dead and that he was defeated by the Guardian, which doesn’t upset him at all, and instead he is now curious.
This shouldn’t come as a surprise, as Oryx has always lived by the Sword Logic, so the Echo of Navigation believes that if he was slain, he deserved as much because he was not strong enough. This is in response to Xivu Arath’s claim that he shall be revived, and his Throne World restored when his killer is defeated. As such, it seems plausible that Xivu Arath will be a boss in Destiny 2‘s Heresy, even if she isn’t killed off, since she will likely try to kill the Guardian to revive her brother.
Destiny 2 Will Likely Make Players Fight Oryx For The Dreadnaught and His Echo
After Kludge, Sloane states that the Echo of Navigation is too dangerous and that it should be destroyed. However, it would make a lot of sense for Oryx to challenge the Guardian again to determine their strength, and if they win, they shall have the Echo of Navigation for themselves. This would make him abide by the Sword Logic once more, but that’s not all. Frontiers will take Destiny 2 players out of the Sol System for the first time ever, and there would be no better way to achieve this than by awarding Guardians with the Echo of Navigation and the entire Dreadnaught as a ship.
This seems even more likely now that the H.E.L.M. crashed in Revenant.
With the Episodic armor being that of admirals and navigators, except with Hive vibes, it makes perfect sense that Heresy will pave the way for Destiny 2‘s Frontiers. Getting the Dreadnaught and the Echo of Navigation under their command, the Guardian and their allies will be able to travel anywhere, which would make for a perfect ending to Heresy and a great beginning for Frontiers. It remains to be seen whether this is exactly how the story goes, but it seems quite likely.
