First Appearance

Dragon Ball Daima, Episode 18, “Awakening”

Debut Date

Episode 17 of Daima showed Gomah calling upon the power of the legendary Tertian Oculus, which transformed him into a hulking brute with unparalleled power. Because of this, Goku went into his Super Saiyan 3 state and, along with Majin Duu and Tamagami 1, launched a full-on assault against the Demon King. Initially, they seemed to be holding their own and even managed to damage Gomah significantly. However, their power was nothing compared to his newfound strength, so he easily dispatched his attackers.

Upon acknowledging the danger Gomah possessed, Neva intervened by lending a substantial amount of power to the downed Goku. This energy was a massive help, reacting with Goku’s Saiyan cells in a way that awoke a primal power within him, which fans know to be the iconic Super Saiyan 4 form from GT. This made everyone rave with excitement at seeing a fan-favorite form finally made canon with such an amazing showing of power.

How This Opens The Door For Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta

The Greatest Non-Canon Fusion in the Series

Despite Goku unlocking his strongest form at that stage in the story, it still wasn’t enough to defeat Gomah. While it did very well early on and dealt a lot of damage, Gomah proved to be superior, even taking on an amazing new version of the Kamehameha head on but still returning to knock Goku out. The episode ended on a cliffhanger that showed Glorio wishing for something, but it’s currently unknown what it is.

This is where the possibilities for Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta come in. Daima is a series that, uncharacteristically of Z, has given a lot of importance to Vegeta and his role in the Z-Fighters, even giving him the Super Saiyan 3 transformation after decades of fans begging to see it. However, in the final battle, he has largely been absent, since he seems to be the only one still rearing from the blow Gomah dealt him since the others even got up from it and have engaged in the fight against the Demon King.

I will never stop pushing myself to become stronger, not until I am the strongest in the universe!

Vegeta being out of the picture right now implies that he will almost definitely come back, considering Gomah is at his strongest and just knocked out the strongest hero on the battlefield. It’s entirely possible that Vegeta may also be given a power-up from Neva that will allow him to access his own version of the Super Saiyan 4 form and provide some much-needed assistance in what currently looks like a one-sided fight.

However, it’s quite apparent that Gomah will likely not be taken down even with 2 Super Saiyan 4s, since his power is so immense. So, there is a high possibility that Goku and Vegeta may fuse while in their strongest states to become the legendary Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta, who hasn’t been seen in the series since the end of GT. Though GT was mostly met with criticism, Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta was one of the stand-out aspects that were unanimously loved, so to see him back in the series would be amazing.

It should be noted that Goku even picked up the Join Bugs from the mart in the Third Demon World, though the pouch is currently missing. The most probable thing here is that Join Bugs in the pouch act as a Chekov’s Gun that will almost assuredly be used later on, most likely by Goku and Vegeta, to form the most powerful warrior that has ever been seen before, up until that point in the story. With the introduction of Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta into the canon, fans would lose their minds.

Aside from this, it’s possible that the fusion done through the Join Bugs births an entirely new warrior who fans had no inclination of existing. Currently, there are 2 methods of fusion available to the Saiyans; Potara, which forms Vegito, and the Metamoran Fusion Dance, which forms Gogeta and Gotenks. The Join Bugs are entirely different and are incredibly unique items of the Demon Realm, so it’s possible that the brand-new Super Saiyan 4 fusion may not even be Gogeta at all.

Dragon Ball can be streamed on Crunchyroll.
