Among Us – you know, that social deduction game that had us doubting our friends during the height of the pandemic? It’s getting a 3D version. Announced earlier today, Among Us 3D will take the space-based blame game to the third dimension, with a first-person view of the spaceship, crewmates, and the elusive impostor.

Not much else has been revealed about the newly announced game, except that it will be getting a demo during Steam Next Fest next week and that can also be played alongside Among Us VR players with cross-platform lobbies. We’re guessing it will play exactly like the 2D version of the game, but we’ll find out more next week.
Accuse Your Friends Of Treason, In 3D!
The 30-second trailer doesn’t reveal much else about the game, but we suspect there won’t be much difference from the original version in terms of gameplay, but that is yet to be seen. The one thing that the third dimension does bring is verticality, so there’s a chance that the maps may be more intricate in this one.
The fact that Among Us 3D is getting a demo next week and that it will be played alongside Among Us VR suggests that the launch of the game shouldn’t be too far out. As of now we’ve only seen The Skeld in this trailer and there’s no word on whether more maps will be available at launch.
An update to Among Us in June last year added the additional roles of Tracker, Noisemaker, or Phantom. It’s likely that the 3D version will launch with these roles as well. The Steam page does mention that there will be returning and new minigames, proximity voice-chat, and the ability to customise your Beans with “hats, gloves, and skins with an endless number of cosmetic customization combinations!”
