Pirate Yakuza Could Answer An Age Old Fan Debate About Majima’s Personality
We might finally find out whether Majima’s Mad Dog personality is just an act or his true inner beast unleashed.
For everything you need to know about Aloha Links including when it unlocks and all the rewards you can acquire, we’ve got a complete breakdown right here for you.
How To Unlock Aloha Links
While you can greet NPCs walking around straight away, you won’t be able to befriend them until you are officially introduced to Aloha Links. This happens in Chapter Two on your second visit to Revolve Bar as part of the storyline. Kei will show Majima the Aloha Links app and how to use it, and then it’s time to start making friends!
How To Use Aloha Links
Aloha Links is a social media app on your phone and effectively is a collection component of the game that challenges you to befriend all possible NPCs in Honolulu.
How To Befriend NPCs
When you’re walking around Honolulu, you’ll notice various NPCs—both people and animals—have a little grey smiley face icon above their heads. This indicates that they can be befriended using Aloha Links.
There are a few ways in which you can befriend NPCs:
-
-
Save Them From Thugs
Some potential friends can be found cornered by thugs, and you’ll need to defeat the thugs to secure your friendship. You’ll also receive a small item reward for your trouble.
Note: These events appear to be random and not tied to specific NPCs. The exact same NPC could be found just wandering around freely to befriend later if you don’t want to get involved in battle.
-
-
Buy Items From Them
Many potential friends are owners of stores or little shopping carts. To befriend them you need to buy something from them, which might be consumables or eating in their restaurant etc.
-
-
Give Them Their Requested Items
NPCs who can be befriended who have a chat box above their head will request something when spoken to, usually food or a drink. Give them their requested item to befriend them.
-
-
Feed Them
All of the animal NPCs that can be befriended require you to feed them.
Note: Pet Food can be bought from several stores as well as found around Honolulu in various ways, such as opening containers. Depending on the animal, you can also feed them insects and other food.
How To Increase Your Bond Into Buddies
Each NPC you befriend will have a green gauge beneath their green smiley face icon. Engaging with these characters by greeting them or buying their wares will fill the gauge, and once maxed out, will increase your friendship bond from Friends to Buddies.
Having more Buddies will improve Majima’s reputation.
You also need at least 30 Buddies to recruit Kei as a crew member, while the Revolve Bartender requires you to have 100 Friends before he’ll join your crew.
How To View Your Current Friends And Buddies
You can view your Aloha Links app by going into the Menu, selecting ‘Smartphone’, and then choosing the ‘Aloha Links’ app (the icon with the hand).
From here, you can see how many Friends and Buddies you have, as well as your current member status.
Aloha Link Rewards
As you reach specific milestones of how many friends you have, Kei will message you and invite you to return to Revolve for a reward.
If you have yet to visit Revolve to claim your last reward/message, Kei will not message again until you have done so.
However, you can keep befriending people and whenever you do return to Kei, you’ll just promptly receive your next message after claiming the reward for the last.
