Some herbs are much more common to find than others, as some grow in more places than others. Some herbs, such as Sage

may not be as easy to come by as Thistle

. Here’s where to find Sage in the wild along with where to buy it if you don’t have any other options.

Despite the leaf icon in the inventory appearing green, Sage is purple when found in the world.

Sage is often found in hilly areas, also nearby tree lines for forests. Overall, Sage

is a difficult herb to find randomly in the world outside of a few set locations that can be easily farmed. The first and easiest place to check is the Apothecary’s Garden in Troskowitz. Even though it belongs to and is tended by the Apothecary, you can pick herbs from this garden for free without any potential wanted stats.

The other place you can check is Bozhena’s Meadow. While you first discovered this place during the prologue to the game, it has since stayed marked on your map and is easy to find by looking west from Troskowitz. While you can’t fast travel here, it’s a worthwhile trip every few days whenever the herbs have naturally regrown.

Aside from finding Sage in those set locations, you can also choose to buy it from a few merchants:

The main difference between where you buy your Sage from is if you want Dried Sage

or regular Sage

. Grocers tend to sell actual Sage, though you’ll then need to worry about the condition going down, and Apothecaries tend to sell Dried Sage, with a few exceptions throughout.

Unless you plan on brewing high-quality potions and already have a high Alchemy skill level to do so, Dried Sage won’t change too much. In the early stages of your potion brewing career, most potions will come out basic or weak, so the quality of ingredients won’t matter as much. Once you get later in the game and are able to brew high-quality potions, you’ll only want to freshest ingredients to make sure they don’t hold back your skills.
