Summary

  • Jinwoo fights Itarim Gods in outer space, leaving Sung Suho behind to defend Earth.
  • Cha Hae-In mysteriously disappeared the same day when Jinwoo left.
  • Sung Suho awakens his suppressed powers, learns about Jinwoo’s location, and seeks to find his missing mother.

Solo Leveling Ragnarok has been doing an incredible job with the new set of characters. Of course, fans want to see Sung Jinwoo make a proper appearance in the series, but still, everyone has been enjoying seeing Sung Suho in the spotlight so far.

The very first chapter of the webtoon series made it clear that both Jinwoo and Cha Hae-In disappeared years before the sequel’s current timeline. Sung Suho is amazing, and there’s no doubt about that, but that isn’t enough for fans to stop thinking about Jinwoo and Cha Hae-In’s whereabouts. Fortunately, the sequel series confirms very early in the story that Jinwoo has been fighting a powerful enemy in outer space. However, several fans are still oblivious to Cha Hae-In’s disappearance, and they want to know if the S-Rank Hunter is still alive. If yes, then where exactly is she?

Solo Leveling Fans Compare Japanese Censorship of the Manhwa with the Anime

Ahead of the Jeju Island Arc, likely the most controversial one for Japanese audiences, fans point out censorship of the series in Japan.

WARNING: This post contains SPOILERS for the Solo Leveling Ragnarok Webtoon and web novel.

Cha Hae-In Disappeared The Same Day When Jinwoo Left Earth

Sung Suho Was Left Alone With Both His Parents Gone

By the end of Solo Leveling, Jinwoo becomes an immortal being capable of defeating any enemy. However, the Itarim Gods are built differently, and while Jinwoo is strong enough to defeat an Itarim God in a direct fight, he can’t seem to handle multiple Itarim Gods at once. After the Rulers killed their God, Earth was left open to be conquered by any of the existing Outer Gods. This planet now flexes infinite mana, and every Outer God is playing its dirty games to conquer the planet. So, Jinwoo had no choice but to leave his son behind and fight Itarim’s massive forces.

However, this begs the question: when exactly did Jinwoo leave? And if Jinwoo left Earth to fight the Itarim Gods alone, what exactly happened to Cha Hae-In? While the reason for Cha Hae-In’s disappearance hasn’t been revealed in the Solo Leveling Ragnarok webtoon, the web novel, which is far ahead of the Webtoon in terms of story, does answer that query for fans. To answer this, we have to go back to the moment when Jinwoo and Cha Hae-In flew into the sky with Kaisel, the Shadow of Baran’s dragon, in Chapter 200 of Solo Leveling.

I’ll be waiting for you – Cha Hae-In to Sung Jinwoo.

After Jinwoo and Cha Hae-In are done experiencing that beautiful moment in the final chapter of the original series, Jinwoo enters the dimensional rift that appeared in the sky. Right when Jinwoo and his Shadow Army enter the rift, Cha Hae-In and Kaisel fly towards Earth. However, a dimensional rift suddenly appears in front of Cha Hae-in as well, and Kaisel flies into the rift with Sung Suho’s mother. Interestingly, both the dimensional rifts were created by the Apostles, the servants of Itarims. These rifts were the pathways for the Apostles to enter Earth’s atmosphere, so Jinwoo is left with no other choice except to fight the enemy to prevent them from conquering the human world. On the other hand, the dimensional rift closes behind Cha Hae-In and Kaisel, trapping them both in a dangerous dimension for several years.

Jinwoo Doesn’t Know That Cha Hae-In Didn’t Return To Earth

Beru Confirms This After Reuniting With Suho In Ragnarok

Before leaving Earth, Jinwoo suppresses his son’s powers to give him a chance at normal life. However, after dimensional rifts, or Gates, start to appear (again), Sung Suho awakens his powers while fighting an enemy. At the same time, Beru also returns to Earth at the behest of Sung Jinwoo. Beru reveals all sorts of stuff to Suho, including the fact that Jinwoo is in outer space. However, the Ant King was taken aback by the fact that Cha Hae-In disappeared the same day when Jinwoo entered the rift.

This Manhwa Shows What Solo Leveling Would Be Like If There Were Multiple Players

Early into the era of official English-translated manhwa was a series that asked what would happen if hundreds of people could alter their own stats.

Beru concludes that Itarims might have been behind Cha Hae-In’s disappearance, and since Jinwoo is out fighting a crucial war, it’s Suho’s responsibility to find his mother. Ever since that day, Suho has been working hard to get strong enough to defend the Earth in his father’s absence. At the same time, the boy is trying everything in his power to learn more about his mother’s whereabouts. Of course, he is relieved that his father is alive, but the mystery around his mother’s disappearance constantly makes him anxious and angry.

My mother used to always tell me that I was becoming like my father quite well…so how would he have escaped this feeling of helplessness…?? – Sung Suho

So, does Sung Suho ever find out what happened to his mother? Well, he certainly does; in fact, Suho reunites with Cha Hae-In later in the story. Cha Hae-In and Kaisel survive the whole ordeal for five long years, and they return to Earth when the Gate reopens in Ireland. While Cha Hae-In’s return (Chapter 120) and reunion (Chapter 130) have already happened in the web novel, fans will have to wait a long time to experience the heartwarming reunion in the webtoon series.
